Amazing. Chalk, fresh lime, swish. Oysters. Boom. — 12 years ago
Very easy Rioja drinking wine with pleasant notes of blackberry currant. Interesting sidebar is that it stains your teeth temporarily. Make sure and swish water. — 11 years ago
Full throttle sex kitten that simply dances on your tongue with both finesse and power. Velvety integrated tannins and deep blueberry concentration. Fantastic wine that paired well with ribs!. — 11 years ago
Delicious and smooth. Swish around and let it slide down your throat. Great finish and taste. Great label as well. — 13 years ago
Fluffy like a small white kitten. Alice treated 60$ at porto vivo. Light, voluptuous, yet fierce. Like a large cat. — 11 years ago

THIS is an inky dark wine. Holding it against a white, well lit background I can barely see through the glass. On the nose, cherry, tree bark, an dark chocolate….in fact, my first impression was a dark chocolate sauce with melted butter mixed it along with some spice: we’re talking a “hint of mole sauce” here…on the nose, and it’s brilliant. I’m very familiar with this producers Malbec, and I’m kinda of a “self-proclaimed expert” on the region and terroir…but man, this wine has expression! Medium bodied, on the pallate I get a spicy, smooth taste of pecans and oak…but it’s not overpowering….there’s even a slight raisiny hint in there, but only after you swish it three or four times and let it open up. The finish is sharp with a sligh acidity and pepper. To summarize, this is a complex, balanced wine that is really interesting and fun to drink. I’m somewhat spoiled in that I’m kind of a FANATICAL NUT when it comes to wines from Mendoza…but trust me on this one, although the pro’s rate this an 8.5 they are WRONG. This is a solid 9.0. I stand by that rating, and I’ll happily win every argument that opposes this. The Alamos Red Blend 2012 is the GRAND DEFINITION of a 9.0 wine. Get this. You’re welcome.
