I wanted to try another Hudson #syrah from the same vintage to contrast against the Keplinger. Similar fruit profiles, but very different winemaking. Where the Hangmans was rich, lush and open this is more tightly coiled. A little less alcohol, a touch more acidity, and a more savory wine with more meaty and iron notes. The Keplinger drinks great now but this wine should vastly improve and should really be something in about 10 more years. — 5 years ago
Rocking darkness. This is a big fella but has a surprising amount of finesse. Maybe a touch young right now. #killersyrah from #keplinger #yum — 7 years ago
Delicious. Highly recommend. — 9 years ago
This was the first wine that we brought of the night. H Keplinger killed it with this vintage. What an unbelievable elegant expression of Garnacha from Priorat. Despite the fact that it is 15.5% alcohol, it is completely masked. Soft tannins, velvety texture that feels like silk on the palate. Bravo! — 10 years ago
With the Morris Duck and Peking Turkey. Nov 2019! Ah northern Rhône but closer to home. — 4 years ago

First Delectable review of this brand new Cab Franc made by Helen Keplinger. This is a lovely dark fruit driven wine that displays deep blue fruits and lacks the green pepper/savory notes in CFs I tend to avoid. I would say this is fairly medium bodied and a very balanced wine. Smooth tannins. Under 200 cases, and under 50 bucks. A GEM. @Shay Aldriedge - your kind of CF. They also make an incredible Albariño. — 7 years ago

Let this warm up, don't drink at fridge temp. Textured Rose that will be awesome in a couple years. Nice backbone all the way to finish. — 9 years ago

I tried this right out of the bottle and was a little worried - super tight and one dimensional - but after two hours open it was singing and I was smiling. The nose has a more savory profile but the palate is full of bright red fruits with crushed gravel on the finish. Super smooth - the fruit and spice from the Grenache keeps the gaminess/savory flavors of the Syrah in check while the Mourvèdre adds richness. Helen Keplinger is a genius when it comes to these new world “old world blends” - I have yet to have one from her that hasn’t been fantastic. — 6 years ago
Amazing wine with an incredible depth of flavor. Dark berries, tea and a bit of camphor on the nose, incredibly layered and soft on the palate with black berries, bright fruits and a hint of minerality - silky smooth tannins and a long finish. This is drinking really well right now. Made by Helen Keplinger in 2010; Mike Hirby took over with the 2011 vintage (which wasn't released). The estate is hands-down one of the most beautiful in Napa. Very small production (under 150 cases). — 8 years ago
Interesting project pairing U.S. winemakers with those from emerging global economies. Ntsiki Biyela, the South African half of this pairing, is a rising star and I'm dying to get her stuff solo. This one's a unique blend, at least for me: Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, with some Malbec and merlot. Rich and ripe, dark fruit, fairly straightforward but wonderfully intense flavor. — 9 years ago
