Rosé, not red. — 7 years ago
Yonder Cities is a collaborative Saison IPA brew by Union Craft Brewing and DC Brau. Small bubbles through out with a cloudy amber hue and small head. A bit of Brett on the nose with some citrus notes, floral, spices, hoppy and a little yeast. Well balanced and smooth palate. Nice level of hops and bitterness. Notes of flowers, citrus fruits, salted caramel and a bit of wheat. Rounded and long finish. — 7 years ago

Domaine Jasmin Cote Rotie 2012 Vintage
A wine that seems to make the rounds as you can currently find it from @rarewineco , @kermitlynchwine and - here in Denver - from @ajselection. Old school producer that survived through WWII and sticks to just one bottling. De-stemmed from what I surmise but not without a rustic, bloody meatiness on the nose. Slight reduction, still young. The fruit character is markedly NOT black or purple like the Crozes / St Josephs I'm so often drinking instead (cheaper). Instead, it's a medley of black cherry, strawberry and sweet raspberry with an oddly contrasted tropical edge (hello 4% viognier!), that ultimately takes a back seat to the savory, spice notes. Certainly ample body despite being only 12.5% and aged in neutral oak. Seems built for the long haul. Cool wine. I sell magnums of 2007... I wonder what that tastes like?

@Delectable Wine - This is majority, if not 100%, Syrah. It’s not a Grenache blend.
I was skeptical. I usually don’t like Syrah from the Southern Rhône. It’s usually blocky and uninteresting. But this. Put this blind in a group of Saint Josephs and no one bats an eye. Cracked pepper, dark berry, granite, and pink grapefruit rind. So lively in the mouth. Clingy and stoney. Delicious. — 7 years ago

All the great great characteristics of petit Verdot but in a fresh style — 9 years ago
That's a really good beer. I'm partial to sours though. Great balance. Heavy, substantial yet deft. Sweet, sour (obs), malty, good retained effervescence. Not my fav ev'a, but nearly perfect for what it is. — 10 years ago
Peter Sultan
47% mourvedre, 39% grenache, 14% syrah (on front label!)—this opens up so beautifully. If only I had a case to lay down. Laser beam thread of acidity, St Josephs/ Northern Rhone role model despite Southern blend, high toned: subtle, crushed black fruits, cassis. Absolutely charming but refined as well. Viva old school Cali makers like St John. — 7 years ago
