Always fun to explore an indigenous varietal from Spain - especially when Alvaro Palacios is involved. I found this Mencia wine to be medium bodied with good acidity and structured tannins that were present in this young wine but not obnoxiously so. The fruit is darker dried red fruit that proved to be a good compliment with grilled shishito peppers. It was so nice to dive into a new aspect of Spain’s wine history. — 3 months ago
Still a baby but excellent — 5 months ago
Selfridges feiyu - smoky, bubble gum / banana, typical Beaujolais wine, low sulphate, natural fermatation, works well chilled ( only works with low tanning wine) — 8 months ago
(It’s evening). Bright straw yellow. Pronounced nose. Blossom, peach, sweet yeastiness, gentle nuttiness, golden apples and pears, spicy chicken skin soup, sweet baking spices (vanilla, cinnamon). Deep and intense but round and broad, not piercing.
Dry, high acid, high alcohol, full, rounded body, hint of spritz, very saline, nice long finish. A bit austere. Couldn’t quite cope with brilllat savarin but great with the others.

Traditional style Rhône. — 2 months ago
Popped and poured from a half bottle; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The “Oeil de Perdrix” is made in the saignée method and pours a pale copper/pink color with a persistent mousse. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of strawberry, raspberry, pink pepper, lemon, and chalky minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. A lovely expression of a Blanc de Noir Rosé from Bouzy. Disgorged April of 2023. — 3 months ago
Big rich red! At first sip, perfect — 6 months ago
Peaking right now, don’t wait: amber bricking on edge, black & red fruit - deep reservoir of ripe intense aromas & flavors, baking spices, worn leather, licorice, mineral - so expressive, massive on palate, beautifully balanced, tamed from so many years in bottle. Perfect accompaniment to my Saturday night T-Bone — 7 months ago
Fully mature mouth-coating herbs and tomato. Lacks freshness of most bojo but somehow works with broad mid-palate. A treat, for sure. — 8 months ago
Strawberries and cream. Dry not sweet. Refreshing. — 3 years ago

Concentrated fruit, soft, and a bit of spice -
Some of the best value CdR out there, sourcing fruit from around Southern Rhône!! Jean Louis Chave expertise at an entry-level price.
This was a young wine but 2022 was a good year: Extreme drought vintage resulted in lower yields and concentrated, freshly acidic wines. — 2 months ago
Medium ruby color.
Aromas of red fruit
Dry. Flavors of red fruit, cherry, raspberry, cinnamon, cedar. Rich, chewy tannins. Great acidity.
