I've been curious about this wine for some time. The original 05 Ausone review from Parker was revised and one would think it was at the request of the Chateau. Parker's 💯 point review started something like this...if you are over the age of 55, you'll want to decide if you want to buy this this wine. Largely, due to his call on it's years of drinkability; which was from 2055-80. Parker's review was mysteriously revised within two months of it's original review. Tonight, I Coravin-ed this tasting of the Chapelle D'Ausone. The 05 Chapelle D'Ausone is still very big & tight but starting it's journey into a decent drinking phase. The tannins are still chewy and dark. The fruits are; ruby blackberries, dark cherries, a mix of blue fruits, strawberries paint the back palate, dark & milk chocolate, caramel, Christmas cake, clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla, spice-box, black tea, a whiff of green bell peppers, irony minerals, loamy soils, tree bark, a touch of leather, lead pencil shavings, dry stems, dry stones & dark moist soil. The acidity is perfect. The structure, length, balance and tension flirt with glory. The finish runs ripe to dry fruit and the minerals are rich with a dark elegance that lasts and lasts. As good as this wine is tonight, I'll put this bottle back; which is 1 of a 6 pack and wait another 7-10 years to reopen it. Both of Ausone's 05 wines are meant for most collectors end of life or meant to be left for their children. — 7 years ago
Had it July 2008.
Opened 3 hours earlier, finally saying something: coffee shop, incense, dry mushroom, black truffle. Oregano, thyme, mint. Paprika, little smoky, meaty and irony. Sweetness that surrounds everything. Balsamic. Starts soft and follows fresh filling up your mouth. Aromatic herbs keep coming back. Iron again. Only slightly warm when it goes down. Chinotto too. — 8 years ago
In Rome we would say " Tanta Tanta roba😂😂" There is a rainbow of scents and flavours running after each other, fresh, rocky, fruity, vibrant, tannic, irony... I just opened it, but I will never know what it will be like in 30 hours, this is going to finish soon😂😂😂😂 — 8 years ago
2001 Paul Chapelle Santenay "Graviéres" 1er Cru - Well balanced and holding up nicely. Irony mineral, flinty red cherry, orange peel, hay and mushroom, with medium acid and med(-) tannins. Did well with shitake mushrooms sautéed in goat butter and sweet vermouth served over the Osso Bucco. Enjoyed over a 4 hour period with hard salami and Calabrese as well and it never lost its integrity or tried to close up. Drink now and enjoy. — 8 years ago
Funky fresh. Light and fruity. Irony. — 9 years ago
Refreshing, smoother and fruity taste. — 9 years ago
Lovely nose, very smoky, with fur and old leather, sappy red cherry, plum and cigar, irony and sanguine, with a touch of dried ground. Palate is lithe and fresh, very smoky with plenty of earth and leather, irony, medium concentration and length. Nose is much stronger than palate, lovely aged drop but not a blockbuster nor worth holding further. Drink er' up! 1999 vintage. — 9 years ago

Rose, stone fruit, irony, lemon grind, quite enjoyable. — 7 years ago
Smooth! Great price! — 8 years ago
Cherry on the nose, berry with notes of cocoa on the palate, smooth, round tannins, rich layered finish. Tim's impressed w/ the 2010. Paired w/minestrone soup, grilled NY strip steaks, NW veg blend. — 8 years ago
This was classic with ripe red cherry, rose, and irony earth. With several hours' air some tar started to emerge, so this is quite tightly wound, even if enjoyable for those who like tannic wines. Rating for now; with the flavor intensity and structure in 10-20 years this wine should be shooting for the moon! — 9 years ago
Lusy textured with complex flavours of Xmas spice, smoke, herbs, cedar, cassis, and irony mineral notes. Medium-bodied and drinking nicely now but will keep another 5-8 years. — 9 years ago

Very good Pinot Noir and reasonably priced. — 11 years ago
Irony in the title given its dinner for one. Good wine. Nice tannins. — 7 years ago
Great! Not too sweet or oaky. — 7 years ago
Santa Claud sings jazz to you in a small bar in Normandy, and you're cold but ruddy. Is this stand up or true mirth? It's the holiday you imagine in a bar near Skid Row in Downtown LA when you take a sip of this and are transported by a northern bite to your tongue. Irony or sincerity--it's so fresh but so sweet! I could go for more fizz, but one only feels permitted to request such things when engulfed by luxury — 7 years ago
Very nice with my BT Steak. — 8 years ago
2001 Viñedos Lacalle y Laorden Rioja showing youthful cherry and irony mineral driven flavors with tart acidity and medium tannins. Needs more time in bottle. I would recommend resting it for another 8 years. Decant for 3 hours if your drinking it now. — 9 years ago
Peter makes a very modern style of Tempranillo. Rich blue and black fruits, violets, smoked meats, soft leather, tobacco leaf, black tea, crush rocks, irony minerality and dusty tannins. . — 9 years ago
Good bottle for under $10 — 9 years ago
Warm fruit, earthy, irony. Sucking on a penny, — 9 years ago
