1971 they released the wine alongside 32 other Bordeaux wines and sassicaia came in first place it was the 1968 vintage and this is a more recent invention the third wine of this famous property. This is a blend of 70 Cabernet Sauvignon and 30 Sangiovese a very forward and seductive wine with red currents red plum fresh earth with fine herbs coco and tobacco spice. Very smooth and silky on the tongue with fresh red berry and plum fruit smooth round tannins and a good bit of that earth and spice through the finish. Finish 40+ excellent

Rousanne reminds me of Kivelstadt mother of invention (Viognier/rousanne). This is 60% marsanne, 35% rousanne, 5% Grenache blanc. Great with cheese - easy to drink but a little funky. From Ruby wine shop wine club : ) — 11 years ago

Thick rich currant and cassis berry fruit intense small berries very rich with dark chocolate and fresh plowed black earth a little petite Verdot and Syrah in the blend almost 2 years in 50% new French oak. Sweet tobacco spice with dense texture but still smooth and round on the tongue very rich but lovely balance and freshness with a long complex finish. Finish 45+ excellent+. Filtration only 50 years old so this is a recent invention — 12 years ago
