Not as much of a monster as other vintages but still an awesome wine. Great mix of dark fruit, spearmint, smoke, leather, and chocolate. Touch of tannin left. Gave it about an hour in the decanter. — 10 years ago

Super easy to drink! Will be finishing this bottle tonight. Or at least I wouldn't be surprised if I did. It's not over powering or spicy. Just very very light, a tad sweet, and a tiny sweet finish. — 11 years ago

4 hour decant and this big boy was still closed down. What little it revealed hinted at the monster wine this will become. Still very primary extracted black fruit, pencil shavings, camphor, mammoth tannins with fresh acid. Desperately needs time to open up. — 12 years ago

Dense red currant is ‘wrassled’ down by fennel aromas, mint and black cherry with strawberry and blackberry hidden beneath its thick canopy of fern and forrest; including moss and mushroom. Actually amazing! Not going to ever guess that this herbaceous monster with rim to rim colt density is an 11 yr old Calistoga! Meaty notes of grill and marinated fungi. Celeriac root, fennel and licorice notes define this angel with a minty coolness persisting! Solid but unspectacular. I doubt this will get any better than it is. Syrah/cabernet sauvignon blend. The nose is all cabernet, but it's all syrah in the mouth. Blueberry notes, still tannic. The parts are good, but the whole doesn't quite get there. — 10 years ago
