I mean, the name alone makes you want to, at the very least, try it. And let me tell you, you’ll be happy you did! Some red fruit (cranberry mainly) and acidity with a yeasty finish. A fun change from your standard bubble options and the perfect holiday color! — 6 years ago
Nice and brite — 7 years ago
Dense red currant is ‘wrassled’ down by fennel aromas, mint and black cherry with strawberry and blackberry hidden beneath its thick canopy of fern and forrest; including moss and mushroom. Actually amazing! Not going to ever guess that this herbaceous monster with rim to rim colt density is an 11 yr old Calistoga! Meaty notes of grill and marinated fungi. Celeriac root, fennel and licorice notes define this angel with a minty coolness persisting! Blackberry and black cherry emerge in the finale to shine like young wine despite the years!#Larkmead #2007cab #Calistoga #Napa #napacab — 8 years ago

A really elegant and balanced ps, even though I do prefer "monster" interpretations. — 9 years ago
We tackled this monster at The River Cafe over the summer. Larger formats always seem to evolve that bit better over time and this was no exception. Absolutely fantastic. — 5 years ago
Velvety smooth, creamy, not massively fruity, really rich flavour though. Quaffable. — 6 years ago
Loving the smooth chocolate taste. Was recommended by a gal at work and it did not disappoint. — 7 years ago
Inky indeed — 8 years ago
Very acidic, pineapple notes but good over all — 8 years ago
Really smooth for the price we paid. Dry but not tanniny. Had a some sweetness — 9 years ago
Soooo good — 9 years ago
Nose of pen ink, bandaid, purple flowers, dark cherry, cooked strawberry, graphite and stone.
Palate is a sexy mama, nough said.
2013 in a half bottle...so...same amount of oxygen as a 750ml bottle but only 375ml of wine = faster aging = drinking nicely — 6 years ago
Great depth....loves this wine — 6 years ago

Dark, brooding, serious Cabernet. Plenty of oak and dark fruit, not sour but not sweet. Earthy flavours with liquorice and tar. Ink black in the glass with moderate tannins and depth. Comes to life with food but I think this needs a few more years before being at its best. — 7 years ago
notes of black cherry pie and a touch of chocolate with a little more residual sugar than a typical port — 9 years ago

This is #Shiraz from #Australia Deep and brooding ruby color from #oldvines #mclarenvale On the nose blackberry black cherry blueberry and ink. Followed up by hints of oak, dark chocolate, cedar and toast. You can’t drink the whole bottle because between the power and depth and the 15% noticeable alcohol it would be kamikaze. But...you don’t care #hedonistic — 5 years ago
