Quite elegant and Hermitage-like with its nuances of black pepper, dry blood, iron, smoked sausage, black olive tapenade, smoldering fireplace and Provencal herbs. No apparent heat or sweetness, there's an understated hint of bramble-coulis in the mid-palate. A gorgeous wine. — 9 years ago
Stayed in the hole completely for the first hour. The second was fuller with more fruit on the mid but not all the way relaxed. Too young? Or drunk too quickly? — 9 years ago
Toasty nose of cherry pastry, cinnamon and raisin bread with black rose notes hovering in chocolate clouds. Dried red cherry round out the background. Chewy, bing cherry entry with lingering tartness wound around the expansive middle but unfolding into a refined and ridiculously sensual tar, silky tannins and cherry and strawberry-rhubarb freshness. The roses remain, wrapped around the worthy neck of this thoroughbred, mint, tarragon, and an interesting blood orange complete the mosaic. — 10 years ago
Drank the hole bottle. Closer to French "Pettilant Natural" than any prosecco I have tried.
Sour, a little yeasty, very refreshing . Go in with an open mind! — 10 years ago
A black hole. Classic nose of cedar, currants and cigar box. Medium body in the mouth with dark fruit, minerals and a wall of tannin. The eternal question of who will win, fruit or tannin. — 10 years ago

Tonight I'm drinking something very special I'm drinking a 2006 Salvatore Molettiere Taurusi. It has deep rich elements of smoke tobacco tar with a brilliant peppery finish and a strong subtle middle of cherry and plum. Not only is this one of the most delicious wines that I've ever tasted but it has certain significance.
Most of the people who know me today have only known me for a few years. However what most people don't know is shortly after high school my life i was in complete disarray. I was living on my own I had no money I didn't eat every day and I had really no clue what I was doing as an adult. I made stupid mistakes for which I'm still upset at myself. And I've been climing myself out of this hole that I dug ever since.
However, today marks a great day for me. I just got approved for a new apartment in Center City. I'm moving out of the ghetto in Kensington and for the first time since high school I really feel like my life is coming together on steady trajectory toward self-actualization.
This wine is highly significant because the Vintage of 2006 was the same year that I graduated high school. That means that the grapes made for this wine were harvested just a few months after my high school graduation. These grapes were on the vine being grown when I was still struggling through high school. These grapes were fermenting at a time that I had no idea what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. These grapes were being bottled at a time that I was lucky if I ate everyday. And now because of the amount of money I'm making because of the new job that I have, because of the new opportunities that I've created for myself, I'm able to spend the exorbitant amount of money every once in awhile to treat myself to a delicious, delicious Taurasi.
This wine followed the same life that I had. The grapes were being crushed at a time that I was being crushed. They were being ravaged by bacteria called yeast at a time that I was also going through similar changes. This wine was being bottled at a time that I couldn't fill my stomach. This wine took 10 years to get to my palate and now that it's here it's significance is not only moral but incredibly delicious. — 8 years ago
Let me be up front, I like you. Okay? I know we just meet and all, but you, you send me to that place, that unidentifiable, that hole, that flushing of the skin, that unknown; pleasure. I know, I know, I know. You are thinking it's just your looks. It's just your perfume. It's aesthetic. It's lust. It's fleeting,. Momentary. A pathetic attempt,. An act of desperation. Let me say, in my defense: I'm not smitten easy. I'm tough, cynical. All brick and mortar. Hard edges and despair. But you, you are the real thing, my dear. I'm sure of it. Just one touch and I'm done, love at first blush. You can do what you like. Go join the rest of the party. But I want you to know: your taste well be on my tongue, your full unbridled attention will be mine, before this night is over. I love you. — 9 years ago
Dusty pine cone, soggy pretzels, snow iced cream nose. Cut wild lowers and tall valley grass, Coral pieces straight from the sea, covered in living shells. A hint of walnut in cinnamon. Whoa! Absolutely oceanic initially. Send forth the mollusk!! Maybe soda bread, but really just sweet clams pulled from the mud and injested. The idea of cinnamon surfaces often but is not the driving force. You aren't taking the maidenhead for wife, but you can dream. There are no clouds atop this cognac-colored ocean, but the lacing is unbreakable and washes like the ocean around the bowl. — 10 years ago
Pleasant screw-top rose, pretty in pink, glints of orange and strawberry, an exact little wine, perfect for breezy New England day of scattered cirrus veiling and unveiling the moon's shift toward last quarter, precisely the same color as the clouds. — 10 years ago
The 2014 vintage is better than the rest. Taste the pluots sloshing around your rosé hole. Dry af, & give 0 fux. — 10 years ago

I had this super Tuscan in Jackson Hole, Wyoming on August 21. Pretty dry as usual for this region. A smooth wine with the usual woody tones. — 11 years ago
...and then, in dreaming,
The clouds methought would open, and show riches
Ready to drop upon me; that, when I waked,
I cried to dream again. — 11 years ago
Great taste for a reasonably priced wine — 9 years ago
A wall of cedar coated in turbinado crystals, sweet tea, vanilla mist, wintergreen and wildflower honey up the two-hole. Really a gorgeous array. Orange blossom honey, pine nut, rock candy, lemongrass, cocoanut, cocoa powder, soft vanilla, sweet tobacco, coffee candy, brickle notes, squash blossom, poppy flower, and the worlds most perfect raisin. As delightfully indulgent as drifting carelessly down a clean river in spring and being enveloped in an endless array of budding flora! — 9 years ago
Can't find my Ah-so (cue Bender) so I didn't stand a chance against this cork. The worm ended up drilling a hole straight through the middle, so had to strain through a coffee filter. Worth the trouble as this was a nice surprise. Tapenade nose, tar and still a hint of bacon. Nice showing for the basic County blend at 17+ years. Chose the location due a mountain lion sighting in the 'hood today. — 9 years ago
A hole in the middle but still good. — 10 years ago
Smells a bit like a watermelon Jolly Rancher with a touch of Queen Anne cherry. I am no fan of watermelon candy, but in this case this is paradoxically a good thing because underneath are hints of what I can only conceive of as the smell after a crisp, cool mountain rain shower in the summertime just as the sun begins to peak out from behind the clouds. That failed attempt at poetry could also simply be communicated as a "promise of minerality," which is apparent in the flinty taste, as are tantalizing spicy notes that suggest the robust potential of the grapes. This is a winner for all occasions that demand a complex, rewarding, and eminently affordable rosé. — 10 years ago
A gorgeous bouquet of violets came rising immediately on the first pour, bursting into my nose showing only a hint of barbecue sauce and what's to come. 30 minutes later bacon was grilling in the glass and smoke was rising in billowing clouds of invisible aroma. Fuck ya. Always over delivers, this one. Cote rotie throw aways? Yes please and thanks! — 10 years ago
Tip top quality. Dark and dirty tones on the nose lead to an eyeopening showcase of depth of flavor carried with such grace and softness. Pure artistry and craftmanship. Homerun, slamdunk, hole in one. — 10 years ago

Tight on the pop but opened up quickly. Great beach wine with an interesting weight and complexity--not your standard mid day sipping rose. Open this when the clouds start to come in and you put on your hoodie....you are ready for a night of drinking.... — 11 years ago
