Funky small release from the Barossa. If I got the story right, he has a 'mother' barrel of SB that he takes 60 bottles a year, and tops up from the latest vintage. Very interesting and tasty. — 11 years ago
$150 a bottle. Really?

Continuing on with Clare Valley week. Dark crimson, very youthful color belying its 17 years. Langtons Classification of Australian Wines puts Wendouree Shiraz in the top group with Grange HofG, Run Rig etc. Initial notes of ground coffee and liquorice. Palate of briary fruit, warm spices, minerals and touch of Iodine. These wines are made for the long haul - the brawny tannins only now starting to soften. Completely different to some Barossa valley fruit blockbusters. — 9 years ago
Love the nose on this wine. Smells of boysenberry syrup and kirsch. Though it the smell of something overly sweet the tastes is nothing but. Flavors of garrigue and blueberries and boysenberries. Medium refreshing body. — 10 years ago
Royal Austin
Wow! All the power of Barossa with the finesse of Clare. Complex nose which carries through to a variety of flavours on the palate. Tannins evident, but gentle. — 9 years ago
