It was obvious at first Sup that this was not a $20 bottle of wine. It was great. Loved it. To be honest, the price point was looming over me. This would have been a great $80 bottle. While it was solid, my expectations were high and I’m not sure by how far my bar was exceeded. — 7 years ago
This is one beautiful little Bordeaux at a great price (about $26. A bottle. This 2012 shows nice softness without losing any structure. Gorgeous hints of cedar, star anise, black berries and ripe cherries, with a little dark chocolate in the background. Very high value real Bordeaux for everyday drinking that far surpasses any Cab blend from the new world at similar price point. The terroir really makes its point with this wine. — 7 years ago
CVed 3/16/17 Nebbiolo comp. High tone cherry notes on nose though still a bit closed. Acidic and firm on palate with tannins and good body with good length. Opened 11/21/17. Drinking very well. Cherry notes and elegance and liveliness. Upping 1 point to 9.2. — 8 years ago
This was amazing and should not be missed for a wine at that price point. The high quality is evident in the first sip through to the last. Honestly get on it now. just order dozens of various vintages. — 8 years ago
Opened up nicely after about an hour. Solid Syrah, high expectations related to the family name not entirely met, but understandably so given the vintage and price point... — 9 years ago
Lots of malo aromatic at first which blows off after some air so I would recommend to decant this boy. Nice strawberry/cherry component on the nose turns into a more & more herbal direction. Good acidity, strong tannins (should soften with some more time in the bottle), lots of herbal & stony components on the medium+ finish. A real character and one of the better wines out of my little Burgundy collection. Only drop of bitterness is the nowadays really high price point. — 9 years ago
Very high alcohol for a white but it was very good. Not an over Oakey wine. Sharp and zesty — 10 years ago
Powerful, full bodied Aussie Shiraz but without being overripe or over extracted. High alcohol but balanced by lush fruit, grippy tannins and good acidity. Needs plenty of air but if you can be patient, give it at least 3 more years. Exceedingly good wine for its price point. — 10 years ago
Very nice napa. Mid high level. — 11 years ago
Outstanding fruit and berry top note, Smooth and silky finish. High quality Zinfandel for the price point. Good pairing with Thai food due to the peppery finish. — 6 years ago
Big and racy with tart fruit, caramel, and spice. The nose is more Bordeaux or high-end Napa Cab. This Gigondas tops any CDP at this price point. A beautiful wine. — 7 years ago
I bought my first vintage from this producer & terroir beginning with the 2010 vintage and what a vintage to start. I bought four bottles for right around $50 or a little less. They were so amazing, I drank through them in no time at all. For those of you that read my posts, that’s not normally what I do. I like to drink one & age the rest. Since then, I have looked & looked for more. I’d finally given up hopes of finding more until recently I struck gold. I should have bought all nine bottles but a calmer head prevailed. It’s definitely changed since having it fresh. On the nose, the fruits are slightly macerated. Heather honey, beeswax, golden & green apple, pineapple upside down cake, slight orange citrus blend, mango, glazed nuts, soft, delicate, chalky minerals, a touch of jasmine & yellow lilies. The body is much rounder & thicker than when it was young. Waxy. So, beautifully layered across the palate. Much of the palate matches the nose. Heather honey, beeswax, golden & green apple, apricots, peach, pineapple upside down cake, slight orange citrus blend, mango, slight molasses character & glazed nuts with citrus blossoms, yellow lilies & jasmine. The minerals are much more grippy & bold as they cut across and set on the palate. The acidity round & phat. The texture is amazing as is the length, balance & beautiful, rich, long finish that lasts two-minutes plus. So glad I found more of this wine! Hubert Lamy seriously over deliver the terroir & the price point by a country mile. If you are not buying this wine on pre-arrival, you are missing great wine and excellent value. Can’t say enough good things about it. Especially, the 2010. I expect the 15 to hold similar quality. Photos of; Olivier Lamy, Olivier working in this vineyard, barrel room and their Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Vineyard. Producer notes and history...There have been Lamy’ s growing vines in St-Aubin since 1640, today it is run by Olivier Lamy. Olivier is a new breed of Burgundian grower keen to progress. He trained Méo-Camuzet & made a number of vintages before taking over in 1996 from his father Hubert. Hubert Lamy used to sell fruit to négociants, but that stopped in 1997. He grubbed up and sold off peripheral vines, keeping only the best and oldest sites. Currently he is experimenting with different planting densities in a quest to capture even greater expression of terroir. The Domaine produces both reds and whites and now has 16.5 hectares of vineyards, mostly in St-Aubin but also own a few parcels in Chassagne-Montrachet and a tiny plot in the Grand Cru Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet. Yields are kept low and recent innovations have been introduced with selection tables in the cuverie to ensure that only the healthiest and ripest grapes are used. His more recent move to reduce the amount of new oak with the introduction of demi-muids 300-600 liter barrels have also helped to improve the wines. Vinification is traditional and the wines are matured with only 20-30% new oak for 12 months before minimal filtration and then bottling. The quality is very high and is often superior to many wines from much more prominent villages that sell at twice the price or more. — 7 years ago
This has so much friggin complexity for the modest $22 price point. For the Barolo fan and Barbaresco fan alike, this Nebbiolo over-delivers. The nose is so lovely and quite seductive - spiced dark chocolate, red licorice, cinnamon, brown sugar and clove. The palate is round but focused, high-toned cherry, floral notes, and more cinnamon baking spice. This is a stud. — 8 years ago
Very nice wine. Price point a little high. — 9 years ago
On Saturday night I was about to order a Vermentino but our server convinced me to try the Soave Classico, I was skeptical. He brought over a taste of both and didn't tell me which was which. Ugh. An impromptu blind tasting in front of my dinner companions.
Of course, I was set up and walked right into it. I ID'd the Soave as the Vermentino. That was the whole point. This Soave is not a thin, generic one trick fruit bomb. It's surpassingly complex with medium high acid, lemon, peach, apricot, and wet stones with a bit of salinity. Paired perfectly with white pizza and arugula salad. — 9 years ago
Great PN burgundy, MW's- high acidity, aged well, has the old world charm, good price point — 10 years ago
Amazing Brew, Excellent example of a truly great west coast IPA, this is the reason beer lovers from other countries are seeking out these fine brews, Germany was always the true brew masters, but even Germans are giving high praises to brew like this one, talk to people in the UK and they are blown away my this brew and others from Firestone and Stone, Balast Point, really great to see this happening here in the Great USA, Proud to call this brew as OURS! — 11 years ago
Rich, deep and intense, drinks like a tremendously high quality California Chardonnay like Aubert CIX Vineyard or the fabulous Australian Cloudburst Chardonnay. Pastry cream, honey, exotic citrus, butter, minerals. — 6 years ago
Pronounced nose of red and dark fruits; medium acidity with high tannins. Flavors of blackberry blueberry cherries raspberry and dark chocolate and pencil lead notes at the end. Delicious at this price point. — 7 years ago
Really light and smooth. Great in any season when you want a light red. A blend of Sangiovese and Merlot. So fresh and fruity with a bit of green pepper on the nose. A really good buy for the price point, which justifies the high rating! Can drink alone, or my favourite dish with it is gnocchi and crushed tomatoes — 7 years ago
Excellent well rounded...tannins smooth but present, high acid..earth/mushrooms...cherry, dark plums present and present which I expect for 2010. Just an absolute well balanced wine with our chicken stew fireside seating is on point. — 8 years ago
15% alc.
Lots of (French) oak on both the nose and palate.
I could see this score high with certain critics based on the sheer size but I found it somewhat out of balance and have doubts it will ever "find its feet".
Still a VERY good wine but given the pedigree (and price point) I was expecting a bit more. — 8 years ago
Intense dried cherry, pepper, a touch of funk after it has been open awhile. Since she trained under Manfred, I was shocked to see the ABV is only 12.7! I have to admit here that I no longer purchase wines from Maggie - to be honest, lovely, well made wines, but I find her price point to be too high. Especially on the white and rose. But this was a reminder of how talented she is, and why in the past I bought a lot of wine from her. AnticaTerra, and Lillian. — 8 years ago
High praise from me, not normally a Sauvignon Blanc drinker however I found myself reaching for another glass of this bright tropical wine. Had a great balance of tropical fruit flavours and acid — 9 years ago
Young, tannic and chewy. Loads of fruit. The alcohol is about a point high for my taste. This one is an ager. — 9 years ago
This delivers a heckuva a lot of Barolo character for a $30 wine. Beautiful high-toned cherries, roses, and gaminess on the nose. I can't stop smelling it. Only showing some of that on the palate with tons of grip on the backend. Very more-ish as Jancis Robinson would say. Serious value here - can't remember the last time something at this price point delivered this kind of magic. Post script - after about an hour, this sadly settles down into a smoother, but much less intriguing wine. Gaminess is almost gone. Still a good Nebbiolo, but not the specialness that was there before. Will it re-emerge with time? — 10 years ago
This is like the Beaujolais of Nebbiolos I've had. Clear, day bright, medium- viscosity, no sediment. Ruby color with a bricking to orange rim, medium concentration.
Nose: the wine is so reductive and fruit forward its unique. Very serious deep strawberry notes. Stewed strawberries, overripe strawberry and cherries. White and red rose petals. Fresh and dried. This wine didnt see a ton of oak seemingly. Some light barnyardy earthiness. Light leather and fennel seed notes.
Palate: medium bodied, ripe red cherries, cherry skin and pits, strawberries, even slightly jammy. Licorice and white flowers, leather and some clove like spice to it. Maybe some cedar, hard to distinguish. Med+ acid, high tannins, medium finish. Lovely wine for the price point. — 10 years ago

Big day of wine! Grand Reserve tasting at Total followed by steak night.
Chalky, high acid Chardonnay from South Africa. After opening up for a few hours, more malo began to show itself. — 6 years ago
