This is a beer I look forward to finding each September. Not too heavy on spices and a subtle pumpkin flavor. I just had one from tap topped with cinnamon and sugar, made this beer even more of a treat. — 8 years ago
Phenomenal sipping beer. Starts off tart and acidic, but the malt comes heavy at the finish. — 8 years ago
Light beginning of "Swedish kids holiday drink julmust" then heavier punch of heavy roasted coco nibs. And a bit of drip coffee. An experience to drink. A good and fun experience. Maybe not your every day beer. — 8 years ago
I really like the triple interplay on this cloven Satyr. Bourbon, pumpkin and finally pie spices. The vanillin buoys the whole thing and the clove pokes out behind candied citrus and Apple. Big vanillin opening. Caramel, and an amazing balance aided by the recurring bourbon which tempers the cream soda. Everything just right with this one. #pumpkinbeer #pumpkin #imperialpumpkin — 9 years ago
This is my new go-to. Full of flavor, robust, and just the right amount of hops. Plus brewed in MD. What more do you need?? — 9 years ago
Up front floral and heavy citrus fruit, quickly followed by bitter hops. Exceptional flavor but overpowered by the hops, leading to a good beer that could have been great. — 9 years ago
Smooth German beer. No strong bite nor heavy hops taste. Great, refreshing beer for any or no occasion. Tastes light, crisp and I always love the fact that German beers are pure. Nothing added for flavor enhancement. — 10 years ago
I need a beer app! this is 1990 Thomas Hardy's Ale (6.33 fl oz), from Dorchester Dorset England...with the beautiful nose of an aged port, but it's a beer!!!! still a tiny fizz carbonation, heavy on the walnut, darker caramely favors!! — 10 years ago
"It tastes very German!"..."I like German beer". A lot less hoppy than these heavy PACNW beers. "A little backwards from our beers here" $5 / 90pts — 11 years ago
Very very rich. — 7 years ago
Early test of a beer I will most certainly be aging! Barley Maw! Dip some carrot cake in Ethiopian coffee and you will be getting close on the nose. The entire bouquet is a caramelized, myrrh version of that in an oiled, leather bag; although there is a doughy life to it that evokes freshly washed hair, with whiffs of Madagascar vanilla. Heavy coffee oils, bitter chocolate, smoked leather, tar, burnt caramel, black mushroom, rattan, blackened marshmallow, allspice, graham spice and dark tobaccos finishing briny. A seaside stroll at night through foamy pools. Can't wait to see how she ages! — 7 years ago
Chocolate, deep nuance, heavy enough body. My best dark beer that is everywhere — 8 years ago
Absolutely one of the best I've had of their line up! 2015 was a great brew. Pours like TAR, sweet tobacco, vanilla, caramel, chocolate, dense creamy lusciousness in a bottle. Never had a beer quite as heavy and wonderful as this. I CANNOT WAIT to pop open the coffee BBS and Barley wine BBS. I'm opening up one more, and then aging the 2nd bottle I have for a few more years to see how it changes! — 8 years ago
Bottle. Draft. Can. In that order but they all rock. Grateful to be back on the East Coast and able to get my favorite mon-thurs beer....which I love to drink on Fri and Sat!!! Light but not wimpy. Has weight but not heavy....the Grenache of beer!!! — 9 years ago
Very crisp and strong alcohol beer. Fruity notes with what feels like heavy acid tang. Very good. — 9 years ago
First encounter. Has the looks of a heavy dark beer but is in fact a temping light bodied, sour ale. Fine discovery. — 9 years ago
Love this beer. Smooth and rich and not too heavy.

Really really cool beer. Smoked imperial stout. Very smokey but not overwhelmingly heavy. Also not as bitter as I expected. This also marks the first time I've had a beer (or beverage in general) from Iceland. — 10 years ago
Very fun beer - nice sweetness and complexity — 10 years ago
Dark compostables and black leaves decompose atop a chocolate ganache aswim in robust coffee and an earthen, near-mushroom fragrance. Molten chocolate cake, crispy espresso bean, coffee liqueur, and a svelte combo of perfectly integrated cedar, chocolate biscotti, burnt brownie on iron, and a backnote of tea tree oil. Blackbeard' breakfast included toast.

Bought at a cool little combination vintage clothing shop/natural wine store in Tallinn. Super hip, I know; sue me. Natural Loire Valley (this is VdF but I'm pretty sure this producer is located in Touraine and I'm guessing the grapes are at least mostly sourced from there as well) rosé bubbles consisting of a blend of Grolleau and Cab Franc. Semi-sparkling/frizzante. Unfiltered, a quite small amount of sediment is visible floating in the bottle. Not sure whether or not this qualifies as a pet-nat since the production method isn't totally clear from bottle info but it fits the character of one regardless of production method. A bit funky but delightfully so and its not over the top at all. Slightly unripe wild raspberry and strawberry, some funky yeastiness that's almost lager-esque (also pours like a beer as well in terms of bubble texture/level of carbonation), a tiny bit of heavy cream, and wet granite and quartz stones, not unlike the stone of the beach of the island we just left (Hitis in the Finnish archipelago) where we spent a few days at my favorite place on earth, my family's shared summer cabin. Overall, somewhat like a sour beer in overall character, in a really cool way. Med. (+) acidity keeps it juicy and fresh. Super yummy. Great pizza wine. — 8 years ago
A Belgian style unfiltered wheat beer. Heavy with a hint of orange / citrus. Almost in IPA territory — 8 years ago
It's a beer night. Local stuff from clipper city brewing, not too bad, nice and hoppy, but I like hoppy stuff. Seems like some chocolate malt in there too — 8 years ago
Half acre makes a great aromatic brew in the D.Cutter. You would be well off having one or two on a sunny day because it's not as heavy as some of its other IPA compatriots! — 9 years ago
Not for light weights like Paba or Derek — 9 years ago
Dark color that is reflected in the nose and on the palate. The aromas of dried lemon and lemon sourdough predominate, but there is also a snippet of lemon verbena and jackfruit, dried apricots, pumpkin, dried mango, dried papaya and a Flemish red beer streak! The lemon and beer notes are evocative of a brew room after cleanup, but a honey note in a spring grove plants you firmly outside. Plenty of sunshine here, and tangerines in a basket with fresh bread. Medium to heavy mouthfeel, and blood orange, grapefruit, lemon drops, grapefruit pith, limestone and a dried grass and chalky lemon pith finish that is exemplary. A writhing, evolving spectacle that boasts the intermittent Apple cider vinegar whisper without offense. Tannins abound, along with lemoncello custard. — 9 years ago
Very smooth stout craft beer. Chocolate and coffee notes, but not a heavy beer — 10 years ago
Big rich mouth feel, mocha, chocolate without being heavy. Balancing hops and acidity. Oats, brown sugar. Or in a word? Delicious. Careful it's 10%abv. Another great beer from Jacks Abby — 10 years ago
Dark, Heavy, rich, yet smooth, no harshest, dark chocolate, coffee and anise — 11 years ago

A little Friday beer. Really enjoyed this. Round mouthfeel, but not heavy. Malty with notes of tart orange, stone fruits, a little banana, hay and herbs. A touch of funk. Light sweetness, but with a touch of sour. — 7 years ago
