Graillots Australian Syrah. Not your normal Heathcote blockbuster. More restrained and the better for it. This example a little cold (mid July in Toowoomba!!) but showing more Northern Rhone nuances. Hints of liquorice spice and game. Excellent. 17.5+. — 10 years ago

2008v. Dark violet. Lots of skin pigment in there when I poured the wine through a screen strainer. On the nose, there's ripe dark fruit, baking spice, oak planks (like smelling wood boards), and a hint of menthol or eucalyptus. On the palette, the fruit is ripe (not overripe, like jam), but then dries out on the tongue. Tannins are soften by 10yrs of age but retain just the slightest grip. A very lovely Aussie Shiraz, that is very well integrated and pleasant to drink. 13.5% ABV. — 6 years ago
