Yo eat this with some skirt steak and salsa you will not be disappointed. Might over shadow the meat that's ok — 8 years ago

Good stuff, not really sure how to describe sake yet — 10 years ago
An elegant, complex nose, just hints of black fruits and mint and cigar box. Palate was slightly faded but still had all the elements to make a wonderful mouthful. Unfortunately, I've been spoiled by a 94 I had a few years ago that was spectacular, a clear 10. This stands in its shadow but is still a very good bottle. — 11 years ago
Had this a while ago and boy was it special... — 12 years ago

I like everything about what these Long Shadow folks do. Fruity, big, tannic, opened up with some time, wanted more when the bottle ran out. — 10 years ago
I love the Long Shadow wines first and foremost. But this Syrah from Duval rocks and may out impress the other wines in the group. Big and super luscious. Could definitely stand more time in the cellar. Consumed over 36 hours. — 10 years ago
Love this cooler climate wine. Refreshing and a little sweet. — 10 years ago
Jayer makes the best wines in off years just like 86. He says anyone can make a good wine in years like 85 but the shadow years are ones to prove one's mettle. He proves it here even in this village wine. Exceptional balance, purity of fruit, almost hard candy Flavors and ethereal mouth feel...just unforgettable. If I ever find this wine again...buying all of it! — 11 years ago
Excellent Grenache from our vineyard, showing power and great fruit and spices. Proof that indeed 2007 was one of SBC's finest. — 12 years ago
Let this wine breathe. It will go from light to ruby red, earthy, and deep after about an hour. I love this winery and its wines! — 12 years ago
Love this wine! Not too dry, just a tad bit sweeter than I like. Fruity. 2015 vintage. — 7 years ago
Old Vines planted in 1945, the old country taste with a lighter earthy input, three grape blend, Syrah, Grenache and Barbera — 8 years ago
Delicious. Will wait before opening opening. Really good Shadow Canyon fruit, cool climate acidic. Lots of tannins and lots of oak. Will be great when it mellows in a few years. — 8 years ago
Sweeter than I remember, fruity honey — 9 years ago
Sweet start and finish. Dark berry notes. Very nice and easy to drink. — 9 years ago
This is one of my favorite wines. Not what you expect out of Syrah. Smells like guava, passion fruit. Bright raspberry, spice has some shadow but really isn't there. So smooth and fun, I would drink it everyday. — 10 years ago
Tastes of yellow seed grass with hints of plastic. Fantastic! The flavour is beyond delectable. It just tickles my fancy like no other. It swims down your throat like a yellowfin tuna swimming downstream the St. Lawrence River. Sometimes i dream of this wine while watching the stars on my private island. — 10 years ago
This is my favorite... A not too dry, not too sweet. — 11 years ago

I know now this needs more time to integrate, but it’s down-soft in the background, so difficult to see a balanced future. Warm plum and black berry-currant, cranberry stuffing, rich chocolate, sherry trifle, all loosely sprinkled with fine graphite. Steamy jungle flora notes merge with hemp stem and black cherry skins. Hard chocolate entry bringing dried blackberry and even drier black cherry stripped naked in a sauna of chamomile and phantom eucalyptus outlines describing a swarthy shadow through steam. A recent denizen of the cedar benches, puffing sweet tobaccos? There is subtle power at play despite the fruit-forward leanings. I was initially on the fence with this. This one is enigmatic with a nod to Napa in the 1970s. #Napa #Walton #cab #cabernet #cabsauv4life #cabsav #california #egelhoff #EgelhoffWalton #Bobegelhoff #egelhoffwines #StHelena #sthelenacab — 7 years ago
