On a night where we opened Colgin, Harlan, Shafer, Schrader, Imsignia, Carter & Caymus SS this bottle stole the show for me. — 7 years ago
Oaky vanilla spice bomb. Reminds me of Harlan Estate big Napa cabs. Just an amazing nose of floral spice cedar box nose of tar earth and leather. Grippy tannins with loads of syrupy fruit and a long finish. Almost a touch over the top but slutty and fun. — 7 years ago
@Ted Mandes @Christine @Steve Colanero Incredible Palmer!! Still such a baby and blew the socks off of Harlan. Dark fruit black cherry fruits., graphite notes., Floral notes. Christine did not care for the floral notes but I found them intriguing. Minute + finish. Needs a lot of time to integrate and develop but what is being shown Napa w is amazing nonetheless!

Black and blue fruit bomb from the guys at Harlan. Super silky tannins. Best wine of the night. — 8 years ago
Tasty. Well balanced with fruity finish and light minerality compared to most Viogniers. Could drink at summer bbq — 9 years ago
From the famed Prichard Hill estate vineyard, this 100% Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a cult wine, rubbing shoulders with Screaming Eagle, Harlan and Colgin. The nose is typical of Napa Cab, with rich aromas of steeped blackberries, cassis, saddle leather, spice box and carmelized brown sugar. On the palate, it's silky, sexy and nicely balanced. There is a lovely, polished interplay of fine tannins and glycerol, along with darker notes of saddle leather, cedar, and espresso beans. Medium plus finish. — 9 years ago
Wonderfully zippy. That's totally a wine word. Don't doubt it. — 10 years ago
This & the 2013 Moavani Syrah were my favorite 2013’s from Bevan, the only ones I re ordered.
Two Dogs Knoll is beneath Harlan & next to Martha’s.
Parkers review (96) says almost a split between Petit Verdot & Cabernet, but not the case.
According to Russel’s tasting video its about 90% Petit Verdot from Two Dogs & the rest is Sugar Loaf Merlot. Fantastic juice, if you can find it for $225.00 or less buy it — 6 years ago
Would've been way smarter to taste the '11 separate from the '09 & '12....but I'm not known for restraint in Harlan territory. Again the perfect extraction, nose a bit reticent. Lively, juicier palate, class act but not on the same class as the others. — 7 years ago
Aged in wet Harlan Cab save barrels! Supple and fresh. — 7 years ago
Andy Erickson's history is hard to beat...Harlan, Staglin, Hartwell, Ovid, Dalla Valle and some place called Screaming Eagle. This one, while not the same notoriety as the others, still shows Mr Erickson's ability to blend an amazing wine. Not overly complicated, but great overall food wine. — 7 years ago
Wow! I would say a very pleasant surprise, but Westerly is the best WTSO discovery I have made. So when I saw this Bordeaux blend come up, I jumped on it. 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 23% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc. Winemaker is Adam Henkel who used to be at Harlan.
Sometimes it's hard to live up to expectations, but this certainly did! Lovey lavender and warm oak notes in the glass. Very expressive. Strawberry, blackberry, cassis on the palate. I love the cab franc here! Well integrated tannins. Nice moderate finish. Winner!

It's not as good as the harlan but this behemoth is pleasing like riding a monster truck thru the mud after a boozy tequila shot — 9 years ago
Legit. Wow. I'll take this over Harlan any day — 10 years ago
I have no idea what the “pro” rating of 9.3 is talking about - due respect to those folks - but this is awesome. The best cab I’ve ever had is the 1994 Harlan Estate (with Jeff Long and Dave MacMillan at NOLA), but this wine is easily in my Top 10 of cabernets I’ve ever had. Decanted about 1.5 hours in advance, this wine is just awesome. Evolving a bit faster than I thought, the aromatics are incredible. An amazing wine. — 6 years ago
With all due respect to Joseph Gordon-Levitt, this is the original Donjon. Claire Fabre represents the third generation in charge at Le Vieux Donjon. Founded in 1966 by her grandfather Marcel Michel, and run by her parents Lucien and Marie José Michel from 1979 to 2008. Prior to taking the reins, Claire interned with Harlan Estate in Napa. Consulting oenologist Philippe Cambie also lends his services. Despite the Harlan/Cambie associations, Le Vieux Donjon is old school, through and through, and ascribes to the traditionalist principle of "one estate, one wine." The 2010 does not disappoint. While there's clearly a smoked mesquite overtone that permeates throughout and continuously, the plum, black cherry, kirsch, black olive, lavender, dried Provençal herbs, tar, and cured meat entangle thoroughly. The result is an incense that doesn't quit. — 7 years ago
We joined the Calera wine club 4 years ago after tasting this and other wines from the 35th Anniversary vintage. Wow, today it's bold, fruit forward-dark fruits- and a mouth coating wine which is unusual for a Pinot Noir. This is their pay-the-bills wine while the Mount Harlan wines age a little before release. Spectacular Wine! Glad that we have 3 more aging in the cellar. — 7 years ago
Incredibly powerful cab from the Harlan family. Great to pair with steak. — 7 years ago
I would love to put this wine in a blind tasting of all the Cult Cabernets. I wouldn't be surprised if this beat them all. It certainly would finish in the top three. Yes, this includes; Screaming Eagle, Scarecrow, Harlan etc.. It's so full, round, lush, elegant & perfectly ripe; blackberries, black raspberries, blueberries, plum, dark cherries, dark raspberries. Baking spices done just right, sweet lush rich moist dark earth, dry florals, fresh violets, spice/box, powder from crushed rocks, cocoa powder, suede style leather, a hint of stems, dead on acidity and an elegant round finish that doesn't stop. — 7 years ago
Harlan in SA. Nice but lacks emotion. — 8 years ago
1993 Screaming Eagle Cab. Drank at Press w K, Iana, S, and AG. Such a treat and very interesting as Kplanned it as a comp with the 1991 Harlan. For the first hour or so, we all favored the SE. Super unctuous and round, like velvet in the mouth. Then the wines came to temp and the picture completely changed and we all grew to favor the Harlan. Interestingly, the SE got flabby and very, very sweet. A thought it was bc it lacked the tannins that the Harlan showed. Anyway, SE turned almoSt port-like, with a nose of dates, raisins, and prunes. Amazing and fun to see the change throughout the night. — 9 years ago
This is some *seriously* good Syrah. Right up there in terms of quality with the big wines from Alban Vineyards, Ovid, and Harlan Estate.
Immense fruity palate, but not in an overpowering way. Gobs and gobs of complexity and character to the nose and taste, and a lingering aftertaste that never seems to fade. And the dryness. The dryness and fruitiness in combination will blow your mind with every sip
Astounding wine. Truly astounding. — 9 years ago
Phenomenal special project Cab from famed Harlan Estate winemaker Bob Levy! Scrumptious Chewy heavy and Bold, massive red fruits, long finish. — 11 years ago
Justin Wittkopf
What a crazy awesome wine! It has it all, pure fruit profile, great acidity and a nice grip, with long finish. Everything is balanced well. So much energy for a 24 year old wine. Last month I had the 94 Harlan, 94 Colgin HL, and 97 Colgin HL, and this blew them all away. — 6 years ago
