Winemaker from Hanzell. Tasted about 3-4 years ago, but the 2007 was current. Held it back for a bit. Even for the age the acidity was screaming! Phenomenal wine for the money! — 9 years ago
Really easy drinking Pinot. Had a nice color and body. — 9 years ago
2013. Great example of Santa Maria Chardonnay. Lemon zest, just-ripe peach, and green apple overlay a pronounced impression of minerality. Deft use of oak that lifts the aromatics and texture rather than overwhelming it, adding subtle notes of toast and cinnamon to the finish. Singularly Santa Maria; stands head to head with something like Hanzell or Mount Eden but never sacrifices its strong sense of place. — 10 years ago
Calera makes really distinctive stuff, similar to Hanzell not in taste but in that they have their own style which I just really respect and enjoy. — 11 years ago
More fragrance and intensity. Good finish. — 6 years ago
Winemaker’s Chardonnay from Hanzell — 7 years ago
The two words on this back label that stand out are intense and age-worthy. This wine at five years old is still, almost prohibitively, youthful. Oak and vanilla (so lightly), lemon and lime and apple, fresh white flowers, lacy minerality, woodsy notes to finish, and enough acid to etch monuments. Monuments like this wine. A special bottle. Decanted one hour, and that wasn't nearly long enough. — 8 years ago
This wine (and the Lioco Hanzell Chard) consistently broaden my horizons on what's possible with the right fruit and the right wine making technique. With beautiful red fruit on the nose and palate that lead to a structured earthiness on it's finish. It's great with food or on its own, it's wine like this that keeps pulling me back to pulling more corks. — 10 years ago
Tastes just like Hanzell but cheaper!! — 11 years ago

Aroma of lime zest, lemon verbena, honeysuckle, Meyer lemon, orange blossom, and white peach. Tastes of citrus, kumquat, and Granny Smith followed with pleasant minerality. Nine months in French oak and no ML make this easy to drink yet refined wine. — 7 years ago
Easily the most monumental Pinot I've had from California. Made by Brad Webb at Hanzell and bottled by Joe Heitz (note the 'perfected by' on the label) this wine was still insanely fresh and dense and barely bricking around the rim. This was almost the wotn on a night that included 1928 pommard epenots and 59 roumier bonnes mares. — 9 years ago
Light yet developed fresh lemon rind crushed rock and grass on the nose. Gorgeous structure and beautiful citrus with wet stone. Lightly decanted yet shows potential for pure greatness. — 10 years ago
Amazed by this Chardonnay from the okanagan valley. Tons of minerality and beautifully balanced oak. Soft lemon and apple. Reminds me of Donum or Hanzell. — 11 years ago

Definitely new world, but delicious fruit. We corked this after the first night and opened it three days later and it still sang with no signs of oxidation at all. That was a very pleasant surprise. — 5 years ago
