Herbal aromas (typically Margaret River) with Geranium Capsicum and a touch of menthol. Some green notes - medium weight. Savoury wins out over Cassis and black fruits. Not in the upper echelon of Margaret River Cabernet. Just a silver medal. We went to the Cellar Door some years ago and the story goes that the Reserve Cab was served at the wedding of Prince Frederick of Denmark to Sydney Real Estate agent Mary Donaldson originally from Tasmania now Crown Princess Mary and one day will become the Queen of Denmark. Fred is a keen sailor who was representing Denmark at the Sydney Olympics in 2000 and they met at Sydney hotspot The Slip Inn where Fred was flashing his Black AMEX so the story goes and was captivated by Mary and the rest is history. — 6 years ago
Good different, fun, would purchase again. Fun springtime wine, light & lively, fresh & breezy, lime & NZ grass. — 6 years ago
Over a 3.5 hour period on May 29, my wife and I (along with three kids in tow) had the pleasure of sitting down with Will Segui of Rivers-Marie and winemaker of his personal label William & Mary at the Mending Wall facilities in St. Helena to taste through seven wines from bottle. Will also graciously provided tastings of his 2016 and 2017 William & Mary varietals from barrel.
Beautiful golden color in the glass; nose of honey, golden apples, and white flowers; bright and vibrant palate with lemon, apple, honey and subtle mint; oily texture, viscous; great acid kick on the back end; nowhere near the exotic, tropical fruit nature of the 2013, but still fruit-forward and characteristics of a quality Chardonnay — 7 years ago
Smooth, silky, delicious. Thanks Mom & Dad. :) — 9 years ago
Thank you @melissa_ful for such a beautiful surprise! — 11 years ago
Rosé...fruity, dark pink, amazing. Not too dry. Not too sweet. Not too bitter. Nice balanced rose. — 12 years ago
Finally getting around to posting wines from my annual Napa trip from two weeks ago. Always goes by quick! Lots of fun new stops this year.
Really enjoyed my visiting with Will at Mending Wall where he poured Rivers-Marie as well as his personal label William & Mary.
Not quite pop and pour, but close! Will poured this as we walked around the facility and it rapidly evolved, showing baking spices (lots of cinnamon), sweet mixed berry pie, with a touch of graphite...profile had very fine grained tannins, lush and balanced, finishing more to the red fruit dominated side of the spectrum. Nice. — 5 years ago
Stunner. Unfolded as the night went on. Just enjoyable with an ever evolving nose with classic Napa aromas. Want more — 6 years ago

1997 Joseph Phelps Insignia. Drank w Jim, Mary, Judy, and K at PFurs concert. Left it open for an hour or so before drinking it. Super vegetal- bright green vegetables- bell pepper, green onion, celery. Very structured and lots of tannins. — 10 years ago
Virgilio had this 10 years ago
Very pleasant boutique bottling from a superior vintage featuring a texture of black pepper, black tea, savory and dark cherry. Purchased for low $20s, this producer does small productions beside selling fruits to leading Mendocino producers. Low level of tannin would make this a an easy choice for by-the-glass and for many Pinot fans — 11 years ago
Fabulous. Montrachet like (just needs a slightly softer finish). — 12 years ago

Such a treat to try this side by side with the Summa. Very different. Quite a bit more sweet and ripe fruit here framed by good acidity and herbal crunch. Some blood orange and tangy red fruits mixed with blackberries and a great finish. Will get better, but hard to wait! — 5 years ago
Special wine to celebrate my son’s 10th birthday - from his grandfather’s cellar.
on point and could easily be mistaken for Haut Brion — 6 years ago
Supple, jammy, silky mouthfeel, grapefruit, reminds me of the smokey charcoal of a Vacqueyras and the fruit of a luscious Pinot.
A recommended Rhône from the local shop owner on 23rd street.
A bouquet that brings the memory of clementines.
A shimmering pool of maroon silk. — 6 years ago
On the the nose, grilled meats, soy, mint, menthol, black currants, dry blackberries, blue fruits, black plum, dark spice and decayed dark florals. The mouthfeel is full, rich, ripe that starts juicy and slowly dries across the palate. Fruits are the much like the nose. There's a good presence of tarriness, deep-dark Asian-Indian spices, dry stems, leather, pepper, wood shavings, menthol, mint & herbaceousness. Then, the fruits start to differentiate themselves on the longer plate set; blackberries, dark cherries, black plum, black raspberries, blueberries, mocha powder, caramel, crushed dry rocks, graphite, soy, grilled meats, dry decayed floral bouquet, violets & black cherry cola. The earth still outshines the fruits. The structure is still big. The elegant stingy finish swirls of everything above quite simultaneously on a long rich high acid finish. Still needs 5+ years. Photos of the the heart stone, vines of the "Heart Stone Vinyard" and those beautiful Paso Syrah grapes at harvest. The Heart Stone Vineyard is in the Paso Robles Adelaide AVA with a 30 acre oak forest on a hill and 8 acres planted to Rhone varietals. It was planted by John and Mary Swanson in 2000. They hired Justin Smith (Winemaker/Owner Saxum Winery) to select the property and plant the vineyard. He agreed on the condition he could take all the grapes. 2003 was the first vintage of Saxum Heart Stone. The high density blocks are planted on gentle South slopes of limestone and shale. It has 8 different clones of Syrah, 5 of Grenache and 2 Mourvedre. — 8 years ago
This what it's all about; excellent Pinot Noir. Light, complex, yummy. Each bottle does need to be stood up for a day before serving to let it settle. — 10 years ago
Really nice strawberries and blackberries. Opening up nicely as it breathes. Mary likes. $15 at Divine Wines. — 11 years ago
Awesome. Super high acid; a great food wine. — 11 years ago
A perfect cheese and wine Rose'. Pinkish hue from skins not blend, and is a very affordable, light and fruity, easy drinking anytime wine. — 13 years ago

Wow! Still bright, chalky, and full of youthful grip. Red plum, raspberry, lichee and white pepper notes are most dominant. This could easily go another few years and not be at its peak. — 5 years ago
