This wine needs to breathe a bit to enjoy fully. This white blend is made from hand-selected Encruzado (50%) Malvasia Fina (30%) and Gouveio (20%) grapes. A blend of Encruzado, which brings loads of citrus, minerality, and rich texture, Verdelho, lending spice, and the highly aromatic grape Malvasia. The combination is complex, with flavors ranging from creamy-citrus to flinty-mineral. An excellent introduction to Portuguese white wine, and a solid choice if you're in need of a little excitement in the white wine area. — 6 years ago
This was a perfect accompaniment to baked cod. It is mellow and doesn't overpower but still has plenty of personality. Enjoyed it with just a slight chill on it. I think serving temperature is key to appreciating this one. — 7 years ago
Complex and - no surprise, Port-y notes!!! Refreshing and rich alternative to my favorite wines which always taste like rocks — 7 years ago
First time trying a wine from Vértice that uses Portuguese varietals for a nice violet color red wine with a fantastic dry finish and caramel aromas. Pairs well with red meats, strong cheeses, blue fatty fish and smoked sausages and hams. — 8 years ago
Possible one of the best choices for all terrain fusion sushi oh the fat and crispness hints of pears deffinitly a whiteee to follow also might be able to age. 300 years of winery, keep up with the good work — 9 years ago
Doce, suave, sem sem enjoativo. Boa combinação de castas para um dia quente. — 10 years ago
2005 Alves de Sousa Reserva Pessoal Branco
Made in an oxidized style, the color is a deep gold and the nose reveals notes of saline, almonds, ginger and sweet bread dough. This reminds me of a denser white Rioja, ala Lopez de Heredia. The palate adds some licorice, white plum and a toasty finish from the oak. Good acidity, 12.5% abv., medium+ length. Grape Varieties - Gouveio, Malvasia Fina, Viosinho and other old varieties from the Douro

Orange wine but leans more red than white. Dry, interesting. — 4 years ago
Reminiscent of orange marmalade with almonds, hints of cinnamon and raisin; boozy. Cheaper bottle of port, but potential for a couple years of aging, I’d guess. — 5 years ago
Solera? Skin contact?
Orange peel, ginger, salted lemon — 6 years ago
A young wine, with Gouveio, Viosinho and Malvasia. Citrine colour, an atractivo nose, intense, with notes of tropical fruit and a light floral sweetness. The palate is soft — 7 years ago
A brighter Touriga with very nice balance. Excellent value. — 7 years ago
A field blend of 4 indigenous grapes Visinho, Rabigato, Codega do Larinho and Gouveio from a small parcel, high elevation 50 year old vineyard. Aged In French oak. Marvelous — 8 years ago
2011 Vintage. #wbc14 @wptusa Very fresh and fruity. Surprise. — 11 years ago
I really like this young and fresh wine. Kind of like a heavier pinot noir, but not really heavy in tannins. I would get this and pair it with a lot of different foods. — 5 years ago

Field blend of Rabigato, Códega do Larinho, Viosinho, Donzelinho and Gouveio from 80 years old vines on schist soils. Vineyard on the right bank of the Douro River, in the prime Cima Corgo zone, at an altitude of 400-600 metres. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged for 6 months in oak. Clean, precise nose with citrus (tangerine), floral notes and and subtle oak. Fresh, linear, medium bodied, dry. Good minerality and acidity. Very tasty — 3 years ago
