1999: Yeah. Outstanding 25-year old Barolo still an explosion of Nebbiolo flavor. Brick color but plenty of depth, with strawberry fruit well-balanced by typical leather and tar. A treat now, and wouldn’t wait any longer. — a year ago

Expressive nose of sweet and sour cherries, blue berries, incense, and dried flower. Round and bright palate with medium to high acidity and soft bittersweet tannins. From a tiny 2/3 of a hectare family holding of the Santo Stefano di Perno vineyard, aged for 18 months in used Slovakia oak barrel, this Barbera shows exceptional freshness and purity of the fruits at this young age, but also has depth and structure to age further. — 7 years ago

Very unusual. Fruit forward. Medium body. Very surprising. — 13 years ago
Extremely enjoyable, great substitute when you don’t want to pay 4x for the Barolo. Plenty of depth and intrigue here. Pleasure. — 10 months ago
There is amazing balance in these wines. A certain lightness despite 16.5 alcohol which is a testimony to the greatness of the producer. Takes time to open and would benefit from a further aging after 11 years. Great spices and black fruit, full bodied. — 9 months ago
Do not drink a lot of Barbaresco. however this came across very well with fruits and tannins still doing their job. think it has a few more years left in it — 4 years ago
prefer the rosso a bit younger. nothing wrong here tho. fully secondary. — 5 years ago
Delightful. Easy drinking. Slightly tannic with a good balance of blackberry fruit and earth and herbs. — 7 years ago
March 4, 2017. Dinner w/ Doc Jim. Wonderful, deep, rich, Amarone. — 8 years ago
Wonderful acidity, well balanced fruit, a firm finish. This is top shelf Barbera and a real delight. Bravo. — 9 years ago
Made me think of the baron and baroness and wishing them a happy Christmas and a great 2016! @David Monaghan @Baroness Catherine Monaghan — 10 years ago
Really enjoy this wine, it went great with the meatballs with pasta fresco as well as the chicken marsala — 10 years ago
Crisp, tight dark red fruit that initially hid the earthy, forest floor flavors. It ultimately all integrated nicely in about an hour. Always an interesting ride with a Barolo. This one was 12 years old so we thought we didn’t need to decant….had to be patient instead. — 9 months ago
Darker colour than the 2018 Langhe Nebbiolo tried earlier in the week. A little more rustic and less expressive on the palate but remains true to Piedemont with rose and cherry flavours and appealing texture. New grape variety for me which is interesting. Lower price point so accessible entry to the Rinaldi style which I’m currently thinking is similar to Bartolo but a less little less savoury. — 5 years ago
Muscular and powerful, but quite approachable. Will gain more complexity, I’m sure, but delicious anyway. — 5 years ago
Exactly what I am looking for in a Brunello. Lovely balance of fruit and acidity. Typical Sangiovese characteristics coming through. Tertiary aromas of mushrooms and smoke starting to appear. At a perfect stage for drinking now. — 6 years ago
Lovely, medium bodied wine. — 7 years ago
Surprisingly resolved. Warm and fuzzy. — 9 years ago
One of last bottles I bought in 2004 in Italy at winery. Absolutely gorgeous nose. Cherry, floral, Coca Cola. Still has lots of fruit smooth tannins and great length. Drinking window by professional stated through 2015. Has at least 5 years in my mind. — 10 years ago
