Tasted blind. Would not have tipped this to be a GC. Finish appeared way to short. A mark of infanticide perhaps? Regardless, I thoroughly enjoyed this wine. Gorgeous, far too pretty and effortless to be from Gevrey - probably the winemaker's intepretation of the terrior (higher climat?). Floral, super primary still, mineral tones. As the night progressed, the wine seemed to shut down. Oh well. I imagine this would be an astounding wine with time.
Note: CJ noted that this isn't a vineyard owned by the ladies. Fruit was shared with another producer. — 8 years ago
Rayas! Is there a better CDP on the planet? I actually like some of the off vintages better than the RP high scorers. My favorite vintage is the 2000 which is so Burgundian like and served blind has fooled a few MS's for GC Burgundy. The 96 also follows the same traits where you don't have the hot, ripe traits of the 03 & 07. Rayas is a standout of its peers and will always have a place in my cellar. — 9 years ago
cranberry x cherry x seductive x pretty for a GC — 9 years ago
GC burg with my gal and some ocean trout. The trout aren't drinking, they're being eaten — 11 years ago
Man, talk about a head-turner. One of the lone GC burgs under $100, this has 7 years on it and has evolved beautifully. It's in a great place - gorgeous nose of cinnamon, sous-bois, bing cherries, and flowers, supported by a hint of toasty oak. The palate is seductively smooth and in a great place. More rich cherries, dried cranberries, and a distinct stemminess (in a good way).. this is singing after only 7 years.
I'll tell ya what - not a big name producer by any means, but don't sleep on Maillard, especially if you want early accessible and value GC juice. — 7 years ago
It's been many years since an older Leflaive has actually impressed me, between mediocre vintages, major premature oxidization, flabbiness, non-intergrated oak handling, just all-round letdowns, especially for the price. This ones surprisingly a really great example of aged GC Burgundy, beautiful oak intergration, classic spent coffee grinds I get on older French whites, a great bottle. — 9 years ago
This was the most expensive in the Malbec flight from the spiritual home of Malbec- Cahors in south west France. Superseded by the Argentinians on the night. This was Chateau du Cedre. — 9 years ago

Delicious, lots of yeast. Deep and penetrating. A serious GC bubbly. — 10 years ago
Love the producer(s) and the vineyard. Nicely layered Chablis GC with a broader range of fruits than expected from the northern clime & soil. — 11 years ago
Blinded by some solid tasters as 1er-GC. Showing really, really well. Integrated and complex with room to run. — 11 years ago
Really solid example of GC, not familiar with the producer, but showing really well. — 9 years ago
Has that lovely aromatic thing that GC burgundy has that Cali pinots just don't. Firmly structured still, ruby in the glass, and perhaps a little foursquare overall for GC, but still a beauty. Some wines age like Anne Bancroft, and some a bit more like Kathleen Turner. — 9 years ago
Krug GC with 2002 base wine from Jero at Harry's Bar for the annual Soprano's dinner. The colour was a gorgeous pale gold. Small persistent bubbles. On the nose, roasted almonds, burned toast, brioche, roast apples - deep and complex. On the palate, perfect blend of high, crisp acidity, medium alcohol and depth of flavour. The toasty brioche dominates the mid palate and leads to a very long finish. This is one of the best young GC's I have had and will drink now until 2036. A — 9 years ago
I had written these guys off for a while but this Brut Tradition GC is the real deal. A great food champagne
