Earthy and subtle. Medium bodied, high acid and cherry. — 6 years ago

Probably the tail end of its good drinking window. Excellent aromatics and actually quite a deeper red color in the glass than expected. A bit muted in fruit on the palate but delicate raspberry comes through with lots of earth. Good acid on the finish. For the age and the price, I’ll take it. — 6 years ago
This guy is like the Jacky Truchot of Alto Piemonte. Light color, yet amazing finesse and delicacy along with a brilliant texture. Gorgeous nose. Cherries, spice, sawdust, Rainer cherries as well, some lurid feral aromas as well. So complex, delicate and detailed. Palate is beautifully fruited with lovely elegant tannin and gorgeous bright cherries rule the day. Dusty elegant tannin and sappy fruit finish it off. Needs maybe 1 hour to turn into the lace monster it becomes. — 8 years ago
From even north of Lessona. Cherry, raspberry, blackberry and fresh plum. White pepper, red liquorice, Dried fennel, almond paste and orange rind. Fine, gentle emery board like tannins with perky acidity. Really approachable now. 65% neb, 20% croatina and 15% vespolina. — 9 years ago
Perfect with my garganelli--structured, rustic nose with a palate to match; barely overripe red fruits, earth, mushroom (but not too funky). May not be quaffable. It opens up. — 10 years ago
2007, Anzivino, Gattinara Nebbiolo. Second bottle and is ageing well. Great with grilled ribeye. Black fruit, leather, forest floor; smooth and complex. — 12 years ago

Medium body rich Nebbiolo based red blend from alto Piemonte. Earthy with red and dark berry notes. Medium tannins and lingering finish. Very nice wine. — 9 years ago
Strong tannins and well structured. Pair with charred red meat and sunchokes - worked quite nicely. — 9 years ago
Riper, but really elegant wine. — 10 years ago
2008. Deep, deep, so much more than a sforzato. Had it open a week and it kept drinking. "The dream" indeed. — 11 years ago
Spicy & smooth. Light mouth feel and not as dry as Pinot. Great body, would be perf with Italian food — 12 years ago
Really good value northern red - solid kick off to the trip — 5 years ago
Probably the best croatina I’ve ever had! Okay, prob the only one I’ve ever had. Another Lou classic, earthy, funky, tart cherries, beautiful ruby color and barnyard nose. — 6 years ago
1.5 liter. Great fruit with just the right amount of tannins. — 7 years ago

Just love this!!!! — 9 years ago
Orange brick color, subtle dried rose petal, red cherry, cinnamon, clove, licorice, slightly wet soil but somewhat dusty, med body, med plus to high tannin, slight minty, med plus acidity, quite elegant with some depth. 70% Nebbiolo, 20% Vespolina, 10% croatina. — 9 years ago
Soft ripe fruits and tobacco on the nose. Amber red in colour. Soft tanins, mild pear, and tobacco notes. Finishes on notes of smoke. My dining companion compared it to the wine he would drink for the rest of his life. Stellar representation of quality Italian wines — 10 years ago

Gorgeous gorgeous nose. Spice, cherries, chestnut, mint, fresh wood shavings and cherry flower. So pretty but needs some air to really get going. Some tar and roses starting to peek through. Really refined. Beautiful pure fruit and elegant tannins and such refinement. Amazingly pure cherry fruit and a lovely, balanced and very pure finish. Wow, what a masterful wine. Best il Chiosso since 08 Riserva. — 5 years ago
