Bright and lightly fruity. Very smooth. — 6 years ago
Probably one of the better Chards from Gary Farrell. Buttah factor = 6.5. This wine has lots of honeysuckle on the nose. Getting some butter, but not as much as the palate would indicate. This wine is big on the front. Glycerine and butter initially but goes to honey and melon and a little mango. There was a semi tart to the back. Wine finishes a bit short and much more crisp than the front. Overall a very enjoyable chard. — 7 years ago
I love the fruit the comes from SLH and Gary does a great job with this offering. Very complex nose-omnidirectional comes to mind. Red beets, cinnamon sticks and dried berries on the nose. Savory on entry, slight spice on the mid palate with blackberry, and a Montreal steak season flavor on the back of the palate. Extremely layered. Slight underbrush finish that's persistent. — 7 years ago
Opened this to impress some friends during a Pinot tasting. Upon opening we all agreed there was too much vanilla attributed to the oak. Wine opens up nicely after a while, but all-in-all preferred the 2011.
Edit: After 6 months or so in the bottle the oak aromas have dissipated and the wine is drinking fantastically. Sad to hear Gary Farrell has retired as the winemaker, but excited to see what they produce in the future. — 9 years ago
Really enjoyed this 2007 last night with a yummy Mexican dish! We love their Pinot Noir so much that I sometimes forget how good this Zin is! 🍷 — 9 years ago
Classic CA syrah — 9 years ago
Falls right in the middle between Cakebread and Stag's Leap — ridiculously dry and sour-ish, yet still very full and flavorful. Definitely a "Yes". — 11 years ago
From start to finish reminds me more of an old world Pinot than a new world.
It’s a lighter bodied red with a beautiful ruby garnet color.
On the nose it screams raspberry and plum that carry thru to the palate with tart red Cherry and sweet cherry jumping on the flavor train.
The flavors continue with earthy notes of damp moss and fresh dirt.
The tart cherry lingers on thru to the finish.
This is a well balanced, beautifully structured wine. It has lots of depth and quite possibly, the best Sonoma Valley Pinot We have ever had.
Paired amazingly well with truffle Spread, fresh motz on crustini bread and green olives, highlighting the earthy tones and making the fruity notes POP

Founded in 1988 by Dave Miner, along with his wife Emily and his parents, Ed and Norma. Aged for 15 months on French oak (60% new), from a 50-acre vineyard planted in 1995 by Gary Franscioni and Gary Pisoni along the terraces of the Santa Lucia mountains. Aromas of fresh dark berry fruit and wonderful baking spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry, cranberry and cola with toasty notes, well balanced. Fine tannins on lingering finish ending with a burst of fruit. Very nice. — 6 years ago

Tastes Great! All P/N should be this deep &
concentrated! No green stem or weak fruit profile here. Big time wine from Gary Pisoni’s
Santa Lucia Highlands Vineyard. If California had Grand Cru designations, the Pisoni Vineyard would be tagged! This 2011 Roar Pisoni is still a Baby 👶; with a long finish and great depth. Color “Cherry Cola” Nose intense!
If you haven’t had a Pisoni P/N, time to start!

“The most sweetly fruited and approachable, the 2011 Pinot Noir Pisoni Vineyard has sweet strawberry, kirsch, underbrush, spice box and licorice aromas and flavors all soaring from the glass.” (JD) (8/2013) — 6 years ago
I've got a soft spot for Eberle because it was one of the first wineries I visited way back when I first got into wine. Rouse's was closing it out for $10, and since Gary Eberle first planted Syrah in the central coast in 1975 I couldn't pass it up. Not to mention, he's an LSU Alum. http://www.lsualumni.org/news/Big-Man-Big-Wine — 8 years ago
Quite deep colour with an almost orange tinge. Bouquet is quite musky, again with orange notes. A smooth and luxuriously thick mouthfeel but needs to be well chilled to prevent that becoming flabby. A lip-smacking lemon meringue and orange / cointreau flavour. A very good value everyday drinking wine. — 9 years ago
Had the 2011 vintage. Bought in 2015 trip. Plums and dusty taste. Tannins come through at end — 9 years ago

Least favorite our of the 3 but still good. Just a little lighter and not as complex as the other 2 — 11 years ago

This wine is hitting on all cylinders. Full bodied, fruit forward, lots of cherries and no more tannins. Wish I had more. — 4 years ago
