Full-bodied. Dark fruits. Earthy. Bold. It's the heavy hitter favorite of the evening! — 8 years ago

Moio

Falerno del Massico Primitivo

This wine is fascinating. I've drunk it many times in Naples, and luckily now also available. In Amsterdam Deep purple colour, lots if fruit and spice. Very persistent and powerful, but not beefed up by new oak or overripe grapes. — 10 years ago

Casa Vinicola Michele Alois

Trebulanum Terre del Volturno IGT Casavecchia 2012

Old school rustic Italian, quite dark fruited, salty. Medium body. Very tannic on the back end, very structured wine. Substantial acid. Needs a couple hours of air to come together and show properly. Pair with 🍝 for a pretty pretty good time. // turns into something special on day 2 — 8 years ago

I applaud your patience to get to day two on so many wines here.

@Jenks honestly, most red wine I drink these days I prefer on day 2. When I open a bottle I usually immediately decant half of it to my trusty 375, cork it, and stick it in the fridge. 2-3-4 days later these babies sing!

@Jenks the bigger, more conventional red wines I mean. The super natty, lighter / carbonic / no SO2 stuff doesn't usually hold up so I pound that. Heyo.

Bodega Regina Viarum

Zer05 Falerno del Massico Primitivo 2013

Rich, fruity nose. Nice and round mouthfeel with solid acidity and minerality. Stewed cranberry, baking spices and dried herbs (oregano) stand out on the palate. Good stuff. — 9 years ago
