Oreno, takes its name from the river crossing the estate where the farmhouse is found. Blend of 50% Merlot, 40% Cab Sauv & 10% Petit Verdot, aged 18 mos in new French oak. Went to a tasting, had ‘14 & ‘15 side by side. Big ripe berry fruit aromas with sweet spice notes. On the palate rich blackberry & cherry flavors with cacao, tobacco, oak & flinty tones. Firm big tannins needing time showing great aging potential, lingering ending with succulent earthy mineral character. ‘15 much better. Tasting Sample! — 6 years ago
Decanted for approximately 40 minutes. Blend of Syrah, Grenache, and a smidgen of Mourvèdre. The best vintage of this I think I’ve had. Generous with the red and black fruits, soft but firming tannins on the back end and posses a long finish. Great structure and balance. Surprised that I found a vintage of this age for a basic CDR at a grocery store and it is showing really well. Fantastic QPR. $14 @ H-E-B. — 6 years ago

Beautiful red fruit, some pleasant tartness balanced by a touch of jamminess. Smooth finish. Had by the glass so not sure of vintage - probably 2013 or 14. — 9 years ago
Woaw, best $14 to spend on a bottle, young but already strong and fruity, loved it 2013! — 9 years ago

I live in Alaska! Do the math in your head. We just bought this yesterday. Between now and next year this wine will get even better. Great Job! — 6 years ago
Wow, super jammy upfront for a Cab, and a '14 besides. Opens nicely in the glass though. Enjoying at the cabin in Pinetop - where its a brisk 26°F! — 7 years ago
14' E Guigal La Doriane Condrieu. An outstanding Viognier! A wine you can just sip on a hot summers day. Welcoming guests & family as they arrive to your home. From appetizers/lunch/dinner. It's one of the most versatile varietals. (my opinion)
I can smell & taste so many things in this FULL-BODIED wine. PEACHES/floral/perfumed nose. On the palate I get tangerine, peach, honey, medium oak. A little spice & well balanced acidity/minerality throughout the class. Everything I could want in a great Viognier. The Somm thinks the 13' is drinking better now? I'm certain he's right.
The 14' is tasting absolutely delicious tonight. A little more time in the bottle, might be beneficial.
(Just another thought ) California Viognier's often criticized for not having enough minerality to it ? Okay ...I can still love them all!! — 8 years ago

Tonight’s nightcap 🥃
During our stay at the hospital for the birth of our son some dear friends of ours brought my wife & I a care package. In it were all manner of goodies and treats, as well as a bottle of champagne and this scotch. They know us all too well 🤫🤷🏻♂️
.
Caramel, creme brûlée, charred orange peels, and Christmas spice cake on the nose. Mild notes of moss on the palate with a pronounced but welcome warmth on the way down. Smooth and perfectly suitable for ending the day with. — 5 years ago

I love how in Spain you can go to a restaurant order a half bottle of Rioja and a 14 year old wine comes out aged perfectly. This is drinking great right now and can't imagine it's going to get any better. — 8 years ago

Cheval des Andes tasting with their technical manager who is also an assistant winemaker. Tasted ‘05, ‘07, ‘14 and ‘15. Very cool story behind this winery (and its affiliation with Chateau Cheval Blanc).
This contained the largest percentage of Malbec they’ve ever used at 83%, rounded out by petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Decidedly darker and more dense on the mid palate than the ‘15. The texture was more plush and this seems to be open for business now...not sure it has the structure to hold as long as the ‘15. More plum, added black currant and licorice. — 5 years ago
