Chardonnay

A little more melow aromatic-wise than one may forecast but this wine is looking super, super youthful. There is a slight spice and toast to the new peering through. Bright aromas of peach, candied grapefruit, cashew and watermelon chupa chup are the most present initially. Texturally quite creamy, crisp acid and quite decent length too. — 9 years ago

Avance Tasmania Pinot Noir 2013

One wouldn’t think of Australia when looking for a fine Pinot noir. One also wouldn’t think it comes from one of the coldest environments for Pinot noir but Tasmania is far south off the coast of Australia. This tastes like it could come from New Zealand. Very distinct and very fine. — 6 years ago

Freycinet Coast Pinot Noir Rosé 2015

Really solid rose. All about the fruit with a just a touch of sweetness on the finish, not what you would expect from the colour but delicious. — 9 years ago

Bay of Fires

Tasmania Pinot Noir 2013

Medium crimson in colour. Notes of savoury oak - a trifle overdone but not unpleasant. A blend of fruit from several of Tassies Pinot regions including Derwent River, Coal River and the East Coast. A well blended Pinot showing why Tasmania is the go to area for Aussie winemakers to grow Pinot Noir. — 7 years ago

Tamar Valley Pinot Noir 2015

Very cool pinot from Tasmania. Starts out like a Gevry-Chambertin, has a mid-palate like a Central Coast pinot, and finishes like a Russian River. Very cool. — 9 years ago

Tolpuddle Vineyard

Tasmania Pinot Noir 2012

Delightfully fragrant perfume. Easy power on the palate. Fine silky tannins with a persistent finish. From the Coal River - highly credentialed wine making from Shaw and Smith. Tassie Pinot does not get much better than this. Up there with Freycinet IMO. 18. Tasted again 10th April 2016. Comments as previous with perhaps a more savoury and less aromatic wine but still first class. Tasted again on 17th February 2018 with consistent notes. — 11 years ago
