Frankland River Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2014

I don't drink enough Cabernet/Merlot from WA. They are generally solid and this is no exception. Black currant, blackberry, a little violet, cigar box and dried herbs. Powdery tannin and refreshing acidity. It may not be unique but it has everything you want in Cabernet blend. — 7 years ago

Steely, mineral & with beautiful Riesling purity. From the Frankland River, that most remote of WA regions, this is another example of how Larry Cherubino matches variety, site & wine style so well. — 8 years ago

Well rounded and thickly textured, am I detecting some merlot? Give it some air and the tannins really smooth out. Very good. — 9 years ago

Frankland River Shiraz 2010

Big 4hr decant, medium body, needs the air for the black/red fruits to come through. Peppery aniseed that might sound too much but works well. — 9 years ago

Winemaker's Rare Shiraz 2008

Opaque black red color with very aromatic black fruit, oak, eucalyptus, dark choc, spice and white pepper aromas.  Just a tad hot.  On the palate it's full bodied ,dense, and concentrated with medium-acidity and plum, blackberry, black cherry, dark chocolate, and spice flavors.  Long finish.  Fruit from McLaren Vale, Clare Valley, and Frankland River.  Aged in French Oak.   — 10 years ago

Rocky Gully Frankland River Shiraz 2013

Nice color of shades of purple, a bit hazy, and a bit bloody red. Nose of nice leather, sweet oak, dried strawberry, sugar plum, and cherry. Taste is warm, leathery, cranberries, zesty, dried strawberries, and a tiny bit of hickory note. Aftertaste is smooth, basically no tannins, a bit zesty, a bit oaky, and medium long. She is lighter compared to usual Shiraz from Aussie. Overall, she is a tasty wine and enjoy her now. — 7 years ago

Cooladerra Vineyard Riesling 2009

at opening, kerosene, but not overwhelming so. whispers of lime & and tart, green papaya underpinned with a breath of resinous pine not reflected on palate which is simultaneously steely & wet iron while electrically lean. love the svelte crispness strutting across the fore of my palate, lingering through the mid, while bowing out with the "uncoreographed" elegance & fluttering flight of a butterfly on the breeze. alluring, haunting & oh so give me more please so I can drink one a year over the next decade. — 10 years ago
