This has softened considerably since my last bottle several years ago. Nose is complex, with earth, cedar, cigar box, and an incense-like note. In the mouth, it’s rich but medium-bodied. The Franciscan Napa cab is always solid at $20, but with an outstanding vintage like 2015, it really over delivers. Fruit forward but also shows some depths and complexity. Oak use is quite lavish for a wine in this price range as it spent 20 months in small French barrels with 20% new, and it shows with supple mouth feel with toffee and wood spice. But it’s not overkilled. Chewy and a bit dusty tannins. 81% Cab, 10% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot and 3% Malbec. — 7 years ago

2015 for dinner with grilled NY Steaks salt a pepper finish. Fruit on the wine complemented the fat full flavor of the beef but the harmonious touch of dried herbs and an earthiness of mouth feel came together. In a really big sensation of married flavors to hand you the real deal. Beautiful Cabernet. Great wine and flavor combination to remember. Excellent.
