An English fortress built in the 13th Century, with its square tower, a design typical of the era, became a wine producing estate in 1643. From organically grown grapes, an estate that has never seen pesticides or artificial fertilizers (the previous owner was 104 years old when she died and never used them). Aromas of sweet rich stone fruits with citrus scents. On the palate peach and apricot flavors with orange nutty notes. Medium finish ending with a honey citrus character. Nice now. Wow. A lighter Pinot but more complex than Dwarf Fortress. — 9 years ago
This is my first bottle and I'm very happy with it. If you like a good solid cab look no further. — 12 years ago
Insanely young, however just needed to try this. Double decanted, but still pretty much an impenetrable fortress. The nose is completely intoxicating; molasses, caramelized brown sugar, fresh Madagascar vanilla bean. The palate explodes with black and purple fruits; black plum, cassis, Christmas spice cake, blackberry tart, crushed allspice, deep mineral rich soil, field stones. Finishes with awesome structure. Bury this in the cellar for at least 5 years, more like 10. — 6 years ago
The magic of this bottle is a sweet brûlée of fruit and spiced minerality buried deeply in the toasty wood, which is a goddamn fortress. Somehow, this may soften and eventually it will evolve. The question is how long it will take. Intriguing and instructive. — 8 years ago
Storm the fortress. This is pure and great. More goodness to come I hear

Strong and powerful structure. Tannins stand like a fortress. Muscular aroma and undimming aggressiveness throughout 3 hour period. Needs another 10 years to stretch to its peak. — 11 years ago
Chateau dates back to 13th century, originally used as fortress. 1st known owner was Sieur Raymond Peyraguey, purchasing the property in 1618. In January 2014, Silvio Denz purchased Chateau from GDF Suez. Balanced and fruity, this ripe, sweet wine delivers both botrytis-like character and generous fruit. It has fine acidity to cut through the richness, giving intense sweetness. Drinks well. Bottle age will benefit. — 6 years ago
Kevin White brought to house. Really dark. Good — 7 years ago
This is a fortress of structure. If the fruit holds up with the tannin, these could be really special. — 8 years ago
Beautiful layers of different characters. Strong and cool tannins builds a fortress where a gentle princess lives. She's calm and wears dark robes decorated with mature plums and dark berries and chocolate. The fortress later collapsed and that's when I realized that albeit its hardness, it was also made of chocolate. — 11 years ago
A great example that true and well crafted Soave wine can age nicely, subtle with a touch of grassiness - 😊 "La Rocca", in Italian, means "the fortress": this vineyard takes its name form the medieval fortress that dominates the town of Soav — 12 years ago

Started of as a bar of steel, an armed fortress. Too tannic and closed. After a couple of hours the first lines of defense dropped and it started to reveal its red fruit as well as balsamic and menthol notes. Pencil shaving too. If you have any put them in a forgotten corner of your cellar as this upcoming star will need quite some time. — 6 years ago
