So pretty and tasty, I was truly surprised at how good this was right out of the gate! Any concern that it might be too young to drink was forgotten since it was simply delicious filled with ripe and sweet fruit that just made it absurdly tasty and approachable young. My god I want more! — 7 years ago
Fantastic Cabernet. Balanced like most Italian cabs but with a bit of a nod to the body you would find in American style cabernets. Mo wonders why I didn't bring 2. — 8 years ago
Overpayed for this bottle at $140 as it was brought to our table by mistake and I had forgotten what I ordered in the first place. But the flavors from the nose through in this bottle are so balanced and work so well together that I didn't mind at all. 😊 — 9 years ago
Pulled this off the cellar shelf, where it'd almost been forgotten. Had great complexity and the type of grit that comes from a well made aged Napa cab. It grabbed the char on our grilled ribeye. Very nice and worth the wait. — 9 years ago
Simply incredible. Perfect balance in flavor and bubbles, it envelops your mouth in its wonders. Must try, must buy again. — 10 years ago
Apologetically I have forgotten all the lovely details about this wine, but I remember it being fantastic and worth the higher price and allocation tactics. Happily am hanging on to many Latos from this vintage and am so excited about it 👍🏼 obviously inspired by good burgundy...and manages to be very natural, not much dress up is being played here that's for sure. Happily puzzled and surprised. 👊🏼 — 10 years ago
This wine has the potential to be very good, but at only 10 years under Stelvin, it is still a baby. Makes one wish for a real cork. The nose is a very appealing funky and earthy mess of plums and black cherries. The wine is dark, about as dark as Pinot gets. On the palate, it is exuberantly lively. A piercing acidity leads into a sweet-tart cherry and red raspberry fruit profile. The finish is extremely long. This is a wine of great precision, yet one which has not yet shed its baby fat and one wonders if it ever will under the screw cap. The fruit and acid are still a bit disjoint and raw. Should age for years. — 11 years ago

The 2014 Lagniappe is an outstanding bottling from Gramercy Cellars, this Syrah was sourced from the Forgotten Hills, Red Willow and Minick Vineyards. The wine underwent 66% whole cluster fermentation and was aged for 18 months in used puncheons prior to bottling. This shows wonderful aromatics of dried herbs, red cherry, red raspberry, rose petals, Parma ham and blood orange. There are ripe flavors of black cherry, Chinese black tea, mint, coffee grounds and hints of orange rind and anise. This dense wine needs a two hour decant for full expression and drinks even better on the second day. Lithe and light on its feet, this will cellar well for at least another ten years. Tucked into the wrong spot in the cellar and forgotten. Still sharp and tart and earthy. Color has darkened just a bit. Excellent for its age. — 8 years ago
This is not your coastal French Muscat. The limestone soil gives this wine higher acidity, which does wonders with the residual sugar. It's a sweet wine that my palate begs for another sip. Delicious. — 9 years ago
Tongue copulation in fresh cut grass under a new moon on top of ancient Roman ruins that themselves were built upon a forgotten Neolithic paradise. Pollenate and impart your wildness. — 10 years ago
The typical example that "forgotten" vintages have so much potential and are not arrogant as the exceptional vintages - a beautiful aged wine for a good price- complex, dense and rich - yes 2002 were inexpensive compared to some other late vintages - very smooth wine 😃 — 10 years ago
A sometimes forgotten about winery that rocks. — 10 years ago
Initially tight on the nose and coming across as overly tart/acidic on the palate. Two hours in the decanter do wonders for it, though. The cranberry notes evolve into fresh cherry and the acidity comes into terrific balance with the other elements. A restrained, graceful CA grenache. — 11 years ago
Excellent. Funk on the nose; ripe cherries and purple flowers on the palate. Wonders are in store as this wine opens up: cassis, slate, licorice, a bit of stinky cheese and aged balsamic vinegar. Decant. — 6 years ago
Wow, old school perfection! California wine from a forgotten age. Pure Italian-American greatness. Reminds me of the wine my childhood landlord would make from the vines that grew behind our house just upstate from NYC. Dark fruits abundant, soft acidity and tanins, nice touch of oak, without obscuring the graps as so many California wineries are obsessed with doing for some reason these days. Found this at a random liquor store on a road trip, will seek it out now. Even better than the Cribari Chianti or Coppola Rosso, which were my previous favorite in this genre, the wonderfully underappreciated "backyard" wine... — 7 years ago
At aprox. 22 usd/17 gbp, this wine is a real garbain.
Mature, intense and concentrated with a great complexity ranging from honey, dates, treacle, glue, sultana raisins, nut meg and vanilla.
The alcohol is there, but mellowed with time, acts as a lift for the aromas rather than being a burden.
With a vivid acidity, it is a real show of elegance and power that does wonders in food pairing!

Dark and inky out of the bottle. A little funk on the nose, so it might need more air, but it reminds me of the smell of all the great Napa caves we have visited! I don't drink, own, or ever see that many petit verdots but this one isn't bad. Nice cherry fruit, with a nice subtleness on the palate, and just a hint of spice on the finish. Quite lovely and a nice change from white wine Sunday's....moving it up 2pts as the additional air did wonders and it paired beautifully with lemon, pepper pork tenderloin, white rice, and collard greens with garlic! — 9 years ago

Leo Steen is doing wonders with California Chenin Blanc. I imagine this will do better with a little more time in the cellar. Succulent white flowers, minerals, lemon zest and green apple glide down with enough acidity to pair this well with a number of dishes. — 10 years ago
Forgotten vines, reimagined. — 10 years ago
One of Donn's forgotten wines. Valued at $70. Drank really well with a nice long finials. Nose was a little dank but the tannins lifted after a few moments to leave a great jammy finials. Really enjoyed it. — 11 years ago

Day one I was not excited, but by day 2 this one was shining. Dark ruby red. Dark fruit, licorice, anise, a hint of minerals. Nicely balanced. Grippy tannins. I believe a little more time will do wonders for this beauty. — 6 years ago
