Better with food - paired with coffee cherry rubbed beef tenderloin. 13.5% ABV is noticeable as this is on the lighter, more elegant side, no heat. There is Dolcetto, and then there is Roagna Dolcetto. I have been drinking this since the 2006 or so vintage and this is the best version yet. Cheap, generous, with snap and juicy dark red fruits. Gulpable with a bowl of pasta, a harmonious pairing with sage spiked lamb bolognese. Only 12% abv!! What sets it apart is the first notes I smelled when I stuck my nose in the glass: gorgeous red and purple flowers that offer grace and beauty to an otherwise behemoth of a wine.
