Fingers crossed after seeing the synthetic purple cork and remembering the wine board wars regarding B&H a few years back. Fortunately this bottle was excellent. Nice Cab profile with Cigar box nose. Drank well and held up over three days. — 12 years ago

Very good.. Plain & simple ... Fruit forward, Dense. Very little tannins but it was the 2007. The Barbera grape is the closest to a California style wine, I have come a crossed... But then why try to compare when you trying to experiment with something new. — 9 years ago

Enso, made in PDX, has released their "Chateauneuf du Stark" based on the quartet of Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Counoise (each at 25%) from Columbia Valley. Fragrant, phat, flirting with smoke & slate but so juicy...call me muy loco but it reminds me of papaya crossed with tobacco. Whatever, this li'l Stark ode to Chateauneuf isn't too big for its britches, it's daring & delightful! — 10 years ago

Chateau Maugey - Le Jean Marc - 2004 Accorded myself a souvenir #winelover a treat, I remember it amazing wine for about 10euros a the time, I still have a few bottles of several vintages - near Libourne it was this "stubborn" and self educated winemaker, Jean Marc Maugey, a golden fingers #winemaker, running a small family estate with nature rules, he crafts wines like the Old and Legendaries #Bordeaux wines in the 19th and 20th century - Noble, originals, authentic and of character - focusing on Merlot and Malbec with small yields ! For me, this is as close to perfect a Pinot Noir as there is: a subtle nose of cherry and earth, a soft and supple mouth feel with cherry, cranberry and rose petals with a hint of forest floor on the palate. Complex, beautiful, just wonderful. Unfortunately, the current 2012 vintage under his new Camlow Cellars label (which we just picked up last weekend) is the last year he'll be working with Keefer Ranch fruit, but winemaker Craig Strehlow has consistently nailed it for me. We'll definitely try the new juice--also from Green Valley--when it's ready. *fingers crossed* — 11 years ago
