A beautiful Chardonnay! Only 15 acres planted with grapes grown in Rutherford (warmer with rich ripe fruit) & Oak Knoll (cooler with fresh acidity in grapes). Pale lemon, with fresh & crisp citrus & stone fruit aromas, no malolactic ferm. Palate shows peach, apple & Asian pear flavors, with lemony & toasty notes, lively acidity & balance with touch of vanilla oak (9 months of French oak aging (25% new & 1-year old, remainder neutral oak). Long finish ending with fruit, spice & biscuit notes. Nice Value! — 5 years ago
Full of ripe red fruit, almost caramel like finish, bargain wine — 7 years ago
From a great looking bottle with high fill and perfect cork. Yellow gold and heavy weight in the glass. Bright tropical nose with notes of citrus fruit, river stone, petrol, clove and orange peel. Nice and round in the mouth but still with great acidity. Coats the taste buds. This was better in the first two hours than when compared to the last 4 hours. Paired well with cold heirloom tomato gazpacho soup. — 9 years ago
Pronounced Alsace Riesling with 8 years bottle aging. Powerful petrol nose and some developing honeyed notes. Lots of stone fruit and citrus flavour still. High acidity and medium (+) body. A long finish revealing a lot of grapefruit on the palate. #wsetschool — 10 years ago
1964 Sec: lovely opulent nose of apricot, nectarine and bergamot. Lifted sweet spices (vanilla) and an almond touch. Rounder, and more layered than 69 Sec. Good texture to balance the searing acidity. Long length, and just all round lovely. Sweeter fruit, stone and Apple notes. Fab — 10 years ago
Light, bright yellow color. Nose has nuts, white pepper & soft tropical notes with a brush of clay. Crisp, mineral stone fruit & slight tropical character. What's amazing about this wine is it gathers the finest aspects of cool climate regions, while maintaining the expansive fruit character of warmer climate wines. Perfectly done. — 12 years ago
Dark, opaque, brooding... and yet so smooth at the same time.
Elegant and fresh, with pure black fruit, amazing minerality and fresh, juicy acidity balancing it all out. Smooth, complex, elegant.
A beautiful wine. — 4 years ago
Light gold. Looks young. Took 5 hours to open up and show its stuff. In hour 6 this was cruising. Saline and sea shells, wispy lemon fruit, some honey, some white stone. The guesses from the fellas were 2002 Rav Clos and 1996 Rav Valmur. Shows how these properly stored aged Raveneaus can age effortlessly. — 5 years ago
Nice regal gold hue. Amazing pit fruit and wet stone nose. Plus notes of apricot, white clay soil, salty ocean breeze and some Raveneau honey on the finish. Rich and powerful in the mouth. Coats the palate with lots of fruit and fine grained acidity. I’ve had this a few times and this was at its best. Great Raveneau at age 30 is an amazing treat. — 6 years ago
V14. Real simple, real good! Stone fruit, citrus and minerality.
So good. — 8 years ago
At the annual Penfolds release. Penfolds whites particularly their Chardonnays have been improving each year. The Bin 311 at $41 is very good value behind its big name siblings Bin A and Yattarna. Lovely stone fruit aromas with leesy nuances and well balanced French Oak. Cellar to 5+ years. — 9 years ago
Beautiful nose. Crushed stone, white fruit. Full body and long finish. Very grand Cru like- tension of acidity, stone and white fruit throughout. Terrific with sea food. — 10 years ago
Terrific wine. Expressive nose, mineral, stone fruit, melon. Seamless, flavorful, fresh, and complex in mouth with persistent finish. Quite youthful, will benefit from a few more years in bottle. — 10 years ago
Boyz Raveneau tasting. Light straw color. Honeyed nose with light fruit. Soil and stone notes in the mouth to go with lovely Chablis fruit Tight at first but really opened up nicely. — 10 years ago
Nose is amazing. Stone fruit with notes of honey suckle and vanilla bean. The palate has lost a bit though and it's prob a smidge past it's prime — 12 years ago
Yellow plums and a range of stone fruit, especially the fragrant skins, and excellent wet stone minerals, like a very clear cool country pool in the morning. Very round mouthfeel, round acids like green grapes, gooseberry, rounded out with kiwi. It’s super green and yellow in tasting color spectrum, somewhat violet purple in a synesthesia way. It’s really ripe and really tight, like a pro athlete just hitting her peak. See @Lyle Fass notes — 5 years ago
Wonderful balance of oak, minerality and stone fruit. — 6 years ago
Fresh, light gold. Bright and vibrant in the glass. Even more vibrant in the nose. Exotic, notes of lemon peel, wet river stone, petrol, slate, apricot and spice. Great rich fruit matches some impactful acidity. Long finish. This is great juice, still young, and has some more to give down the road. — 8 years ago
Light, smooth, beautiful dark color — 10 years ago
Floral nose, crisp with long stone fruit like finish
Very nice! — 10 years ago
A gift from a client - and a delicious one at that! Stat sheet says 15.7% alc and it sure shows, this is a BIG Alexander valley cab. Pours a dark purple with blackberry compote, vanilla extract, and dried raisin on the nose - almost port-like in essence but with an old-world smoky flair. The palate explodes with sweet black-seeded fruit, vanilla, and a touch of smoky woodsiness that rounds out the mouth. The tannic wall could age for years and probably needs more time, but I'm glad I dove in. Excellent against-the-grain Alexander valley cab. — 10 years ago

24/15/12/10/9/7/7/6/6/4 blend of Zinfandel, Syrah, Alicante Bouschet, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Carignan, Touriga Nacional, Charbono, Corvina and Barbera. Inky purple red, lots of pigment extraction. Plum, prune, black cherry, black currant, blackberry flavors with lots of seed character and a eucalyptus finish. Despite that, medium seed tannins, not astringent really, just cool black fruit heaven in your mouth. — 4 years ago
