A stellar pull from @Dan Fitzgerald ! It has so much going on and it’s all harmonious. Dark chocolate drizzled raspberries and black cherries, smoked brisket and bacon fat and just a touch of funk. It was dense all the way through but had plenty of acidity to keep it from being flabby. Savory and mineral driven towards the finish. This has plenty of life but is in a wonderful drinking window. — 7 years ago

During July 2014 a good friend received a Coravin as a gift. Called me over and asked what 6 bottles did I think should be tested. The cynical SOB that I am had my eyes heading straight to this bottle. Needless to say I was surprised when this tested "good". Fast forward to today and I am happy to say my cynicism proved wrong again. A beautiful nose of ocean spray and shells with hints of spearmint like scents. More round than sharp with flavors of sea water and green apples that lingered very long. Got a little fat after 90 minutes. — 9 years ago

The 2016 is out - and it doesn’t disappoint!!!Medium-bodied but mouth filling showing freshly picked cherries, leather and bacon fat. A memorable finish. One of my favorite wines, one of the most reliable. Huge QPR and one you should always have on hand. A little pricey for an everyday house wine, but it’s always worth it. Pale yellow white in color. Floral, baby carrot, tropical fruit, and cream soda/orange soda notes in nose. Pineapple and lemon notes in mouth, slight veg (mustard greens?), some orange and tangerine on finish. Good neutral cleansing acid, dry, some moderate weight astringency on tongue in finish. Maybe it's in my head but the purity and aromatic intensity of Serine always blows my mind. Classic N. Rhône Syrah with the volume turned up. Bacon fat, violet, black/blueberry confiture, cured meat, licorice whip, roasted plum, cigar ash. I love the mid-palate breadth of this wine and how well it showed after a proper decant. Wildly rustic while being poised and elegant, a great reminder of why I love N. Rhône wines — 9 years ago

2013. Superb. Was expecting infanticide and discovered a prodigy. Lighter side of Syrah, perfectly delineated after 1 hr decant. Feminine, lithe lens on allspice, lavender, bacon fat. About damn time I had a cote rotie, and this was a damn good place to start. An impeccably balanced wine with less meatiness than I expected. A bright ripeness of raspberries keeps it from a burgeoning doom overripe plummy wild berry darkness. A good amount of pepper makes a showing on the nose as well and as it oxidizes our raspberries gain an intriguing caramel quality. Along with the slightest whiff of VA are duck fat, dark cocoa and organic earth. A solid medium body makes this a wine to sit an enjoy with a friend as the bottle opens and evolves. — 8 years ago
