Birthday Barolo! Mmmm this is good stuff. Late bottle release - aged in the Anselma cellar until 2024. Deep nose of macerated dark cherries. Bright red cherries at first, with tight tannins, sharp acid and a lot of structure. Herbal, dry, dusty finish. Still feels quite young after all these years (like me??), but I just opened it and it’s still developing…
5 hours later: more dried berry notes, black pepper and bitters. Still pretty restrained and dry. Not fruit forward, but refined with nice complexity. — 5 months ago
