Some woody notes amongst an ocean of lychee. I guess the oak gives another dimension but I think I might prefer stainless steel and let this beautiful Gewürztraminer fruit speak on its own. Fruit from Toppers Mountain at Tingha in New England - must be the best in Australia IMO. On the palate Turkish Delight of profound intensity with spice. Finishes Dry. Brilliant! Tasted 69 weeks later on 13th October 2018 with consistent notes. Cannot see how cellaring will improve this in any way. Great drinking now - without the barrel ferment. Tasted again on 20th May with 2 of my siblings Gillian and Mike with their spouses. Consistent notes. Still prefer without the oak. Tasted the final one on 8th December 2019 with consistent notes. Would be easy to pick blind with all that lychee and Turkish Delight. Tasted again 157 weeks later on 21st June 2020 with consistent notes. Textbook Gewurztraminer. A great white for winter - textural and mouth filling. — 8 years ago
Mourvèdre, Grenache, Syrah, Cinsaut blend is a delight with hints of earthy flavor. March 2017. — 8 years ago
Nose: elegant and voluptuous bouquet of apricot, stone fruit, tangerine, honey, citrus, tropical fruit (pineapple and mango), floral note, Turkish delight, and a tiny hint of oak - never too much
Palate: very elegant and rounded flavours. Stone fruit and citrus first, then honey and flowers and tropical. All with an excellent acidity to balance it all. Long palate and great complexity

For centuries now, the luscious, bright, all-encompassing delight of Champagne has been used to toast happy occasions. Often times a decent bubbly does the trick, but other times, something grander deserves to be poured.
Dom Pérignon (named after the monk who put Champagne on the map), a 2000 vintage. It's the kind of Champs one drinks upon making the decision that wine is not just a hobby, not just a passion, but a career. — 9 years ago
Plum, cherry, and baking spice (heavy on the clove) on the nose. Rich, impressively-long finish of fresh earth and cherry. A surprising delight. — 10 years ago
The Gewurtztraminer was like nothing I've ever had...Turkish delight and the duff of pine forests. Thank you LAC and Meritage brasserie -good grief! — 11 years ago
My first night in DC for the American Heart Association's Heart's Delight! A weekend of wine... Off to a good start to make up for the 5-hour Air France delay! — 11 years ago

Third wine in flight three for the Bordeaux Master's Class at Heart's Delight with all wines from Margaux.
Medium ruby red with a dark core. Honestly, was very surprised with this. Seemed more New World over Old World. Tons of sweet spices, loaded dark juicy berries, and definitely some oaky influence as well. Balanced acidity and heavy tannins (7/10). Light red fruit like red currants on the palate with some stoney and woody characteristics. Medium plus body with a long finish. Definitely a baby and needs some time to hopefully improve. Drink till 2035. — 8 years ago
This was a delight... the '05 is drinking so we'll right now it felt like much more of a "special" bottle than its price point. I need more of this! Had lots of sediment... def. decant for an hour or more. — 8 years ago
Worth the wait.Complex, big Rioja that begs for protein. A masculine ideal more on the lines of LdH's Bosconia than Tondonia. A delight! — 10 years ago
What can be said about d'Yquem can only be expressed in poetry, even in a modest vintage like 1998. It is an inner sanctum, a fragrant garden, a poignant release that is both profound and glorious. Descriptors cannot do it justice, sensual and honey-drenched layers of apricots, vanilla bean, creme brûlée and almond pastry. Viscous and glycerol-laden in the mouth, offset by dazzling acidity, dried fruit—quince, more apricots. A pure, honey-spun web of delight. I'm rambling, but d'Yquem does that. — 10 years ago
One of my faves. I ordered two half bottles - imagine my delight when I received two full bottles at the half bottle price. — 12 years ago
This afternoon at lunch we had open the 2011 Chateau Lynch Bages. 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot. A very productive and enjoyable lunch.
At open the nose was quite muted. We had to vigorously swirl in order to get the notes of dark fruit, dark cherry, chocolate, tobacco, herbal notes, and a minerality.
On the palate the dark cherry comes through nicely with dark plum following to the mid palate, blackberry, black currant, tobacco, a fine licorice and mocha.
This is a full bodied wine with medium + acidity, medium + chewy tannins which leads to a long enjoyable finish. It all worked together well with the New York Strip Steak that was a true delight.
Continue having a wonderful week and please, nothing is more important then your safety. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 8 years ago
First wine in flight five for the Bordeaux Master's Class at Heart's Delight with wines from Saint Estephe.
Deep ruby red. A bit of heat on the nose with toasty notes, cinnamon and cassis. Heavy tannins (7/10) and medium to full bodied. Palate has nose of red cherries and some earthiness. Still a baby. Dry and long finish. Drink from 2020 till 2035. — 8 years ago

First wine in flight three for the Bordeaux Master's Class at Heart's Delight with all wines from Margaux.
Medium to deep ruby red. Layered nose with an attack of blackberries and cinnamon. Followed by an undertone of red cherries. Heavy tannins (7/10) with a touch gritty in texture, almost like a soft sandpaper. Quite a bit of a acidity but still balanced with notes of yeast, sweet spices, cinnamon, vanilla, and dark black fruits. Dry medium plus to full body with a long finish. Drink till 2037+. This Pinot Noir (the t in Pinot is silent) is delectable. A true shining star. The aromatic treat starts with strong notes of red, and screams 'drink the entire bottle buddy'. Succumbing to the temptation you will discover a blissful elegance as this masterpiece flows through your body. Invigorating your inner youth, enchanting your inner sommelier, and appeasing your inner drunkard with the 16.0% alcohol by volume. This reasonably priced bottle of happiness would truly be a delight on any occasion. Additionally the surgeon general declares consumption of such a magnificent beverage could be detrimental to the growth of a child, pregnant women be warned. — 9 years ago
Should have waited a year. But delicate and juicy life. Feel the strength of Morgon and the delicacy of beau. Cranberry, raspberry, smoked tannins. A delight but I need another. — 10 years ago
Delicious Sauvignon Blanc - Fun, bright slightly citrusy nose with notes of grapefruit, peach and other stone fruit. Smooth body with a crisp finish that lingers on the tongue. What a delight. — 10 years ago
We drank this at the Volcano Winery on the Big Island in Hawaii.
Our server said the wine was different than usual: probably because of an underground volcanic eruption! — 11 years ago
Many champagnes boast of their biscuity and brioche characteristics but in fact only deliver notes of ripe green apples. Not so this wine. Golden colour and very, very fine mousse. The initial flavour is white fruit, stone fruit and a lovely floral character. Then come the baked goods: brioche, biscuits, baked apples. This is very long and extremely fine - amazing delicate feel for a wine with such weight and complexity. A delight. — 12 years ago

A beautiful, cloudy amber in the glass. Tastes like juicy apple cider with a bit of effervescence and an herbal edge. Light to medium body with a dry finish. Not quite as funky an orange as I was hoping for but a true summertime delight. — 7 years ago
