Guessed Rene Engel as the producer due to the purity on the nose and sweetness on the palate. I'm told this is not characteristic of Rousseau Chambertin though. I didn't pay too close attention to the vintage when I bought this, so I was shocked that this was 9 years old. It's youthful and decadent. I even decanted it for an hour, but this is still all primary aromas and flavors. Cocoa and blackberry preserves on the nose. Supple and rich on the palate with very fine tannins. Long, finish with very noticeable (but not unpleasant) oak. Faintly spicy. Drinking very well now, but this has quite a bit of life left. — 9 years ago
