The lush fruit calmed down after 30+ minutes and the tertiary notes started to come about. Add some black tea to the mix made me a happy camper. I would score it higher if the finish was a little longer. No hurry to open this. — 7 months ago
Finally found something we like more than Wairau River. Flavor is very simular, but Zynsy-pops-alot thinks it’s easier to drink. I agreed. — 8 months ago

Why is everyone sad that Copain sold to KJ? I predict that the prices will be better and the quality will be more consistent. Don't make me remind you of the 2015 rose which was completely reductive to the point that I had to send cases back to the distributor. It didn't even blow off after 2 days! Anyways, this is a good bottle. When these are too young, they taste like warhead candy, but with just a few years on them, they taste like perfect black berries that just now became ripe. Also, Ray blind tasted me on this and I called it down to the producer. — 9 years ago

Happy New Year! 🎉🎊🎈🎆 🧨
I believe @AndrewMcIntyre posted an 02 Mouton today & asked, “is there anything better than aged Bordeaux.” I replied, absolutely not!
1982 was the Bordeaux vintage Robert Parker built his career. He was the only one that called it correctly.
I love 80’s Bordeaux for the 12-12.5% ABV & style.
This is a Chateau-Négociant bottle bought in the last year. It’s still sound & singing w/ the Prime Rib. The fruit still solid.
The fruits are nice & and still sound. Blackberries, black raspberries, black plum pudding, raspberries, chocolate mousse, wet, volcanic clay/lava, spice, baking powder, clove, cinnamon, dark spice, fresh & old tobacco, used leather, soft, moist herbs, black tea, dark cola, dry soil, dry pebble, limestone, anise to black licorice, withering dark, red, blue & purple flowers, round, excellent acidity & a elegant, ripe, well balanced/structured finish that lasts a minute and land on earthiness. Soft as a feather.
What a treat to drink 80’s Bordeaux. Especially, 82. Not a terroir you would expect to hold up 40 plus years, but Chateau-Négociant storage is everything! — 6 months ago

Syrah oh ah - yes I rap, it’s a wrap — a year ago
Very good quality with a solid expression of its provenance and a good length. Bruised apples, yeast, bread, iodine and a dry chalkiness puts this right where it belongs a good concentration on the palate which could last longer. As all serious sherries it is performing well above its price which takes you the question that everyone ask themselves, why don’t I drink more sherry? — 6 years ago
Tasting at Copain. Beautiful winery with some sweeping views of Sonoma. Again no bottles so just the menu. The Laurel grades was an amazing wine, parcel of land by the ocean. It had that salt/mineral undertone and was crisp. Tidal wave was also very good and similar to a savignon blanc. The high rock Syrah was very good they let’s us try an 09 to give an idea of how it evolves. Solid wine. The 2014 was too tannic to get a good feel for the wine. — 7 years ago
2009, Julie Balagny, En Remont, Jean Barrat, Fleury, Gamay. No notes, but an excellent Cru Beaujolais. Red fruit, a little spice and a little earthy. Great story about Julie Balagny. Took her dog, got a vineyard, works it all by herself and makes great Cru Beaujolais. — 9 years ago
The 15 is here! I could drink this every day It makes me smile — 9 years ago

1985 Cru Borgeois from Bel Air Lagrave. Tobacco leaf, cigar smoke, really subtle leather. Very pretty. — 8 months ago
The grapes are exclusively from head-trained (En Gobelet) dry-farmed blocks of the estate vineyard.
The ‘21 really showcases the freshness of the fruits with raspberry, strawberry, and blackberry scented with fresh herbs and light warm spices. Juicy and a bit crunchy palate. Very good concentration and purity. Lovely. — 8 months ago

my ideal color for a rosé. peach, apricot, with a balance of minerality. Has the lightest touch of zest/spice which gives it light grip and a nice medium-long finish — 9 years ago
