Yummy! Oaky with rounded tannins and fruit! — 13 years ago

This is the ultimate red wine!! 😍 You taste the fruit as soon as it hits your tongue. Has a smooth finish. This definitely is a mislabel because their is no end to the hope in this bottle. #Perfect10 — 8 years ago
Funky introduction with subtle tannins. After 2-3 hours of opening, bitter vanilla with nice end tannins and fresh acidity. Nice savoriness. — 9 years ago
I have to say that I didn't want this bottle to end. Really enjoyed it. — 9 years ago
Fruit flavors on the nose, but no oak. Flavors of sweet tobacco and cherry seem to be most pronounced. There is also a juicy blackberry flavor paired with black current. The flavors all work together well without overpowering another. The wine is extremely well balanced leading to a very smooth feel. The tannins are mellow and there is a small little bite on the end. Overall this is an excellent wine from an excellent winemaker and one not to miss. For drinkers looking to try a more expensive bottle but worry it's not with it, this is a great choice to calm your fears. Just make sure to properly decant. — 9 years ago
Decided now would be a good time to try out out the 2013 Prisoner. While not as good as the 2011 the structure is different, showing a ton of black pepper and balsamic on the nose with a little bit of violet flowers, and a very lovely, elegant finish. Big bold red and black fruits give way to a lush, black peppery back end. The finish is shorter than expected but still nice. This is still a good wine, just not as good as previous vintages. — 11 years ago
Deep burgundy purple, smell of cassis, dark fruit, vanilla wood and plum, medium to dull body, smooth tannin with good acidity at the end, balanced and refined with a medium to long finish. — 12 years ago
This vintage is showing better as time passes. Could this end up aging better than 2002 which was more highly acclaimed? I liked this a little better than the last 2002 that I had. — 7 years ago
What a great cab; structured yet fruity; minimum tanins in the back end; loved it — 8 years ago
Less Riesling in this vintage... so less distinctive and different and interesting than the corresponding 2013.
Still a very, very well made Napa Chardonnay, low acidity, lots of vanilla. — 9 years ago
Very big fruit. Very smooth finish. Smoky front Good spice. — 9 years ago
Houlihan ' s on a half price wine night and Stags Leap, can't be beat. This an awesome wine and drinking a bottle for less than I can buy in the wine center is a delightful way to end a day. Try it. — 9 years ago
2005 Nickel & Nickel.... Witz End... Not many of the around. Dark Ink Grade, smooth finish, with great tannins. — 10 years ago
Very nice balanced red. On the slightly drier end of things — 11 years ago
In 2010, Wine Spectator crowned James Berry's "Saxum" their Wine of the Year. The $75 bottle now is sold for $300 or more at auctions. However James Berry also sells his grapes to other wineries. Every year Villa Creek creates a James Berry Vineyard "High Road", but for the 2007 vintage they keep a selection in oak barrels for an extra 2 years. The result is the High Road "End of the Road". The aging and limited release brings a bottle to $100 (for non club members), but I now consider this a wine in my top 10 favorites. Think full bodied California Cabernet fruit blast meets elegant balanced French red. The sip glides over your tongue and waltzes with your taste buds. Caution, this bottle packs a subtle punch with 17% alcohol ... So share or call a cab! Wine Spectator rates it a 93. I would go higher! Cheers! — 13 years ago
