A little bretty on the nose. Strong minerality and smoke. Strawberry, rhubarb, cranberry,pomegranate and a chalky finish. Beautiful elegance, complexity and balance. It's near it's peak. Serve with duck or pork with a light fruit sauce. — 10 years ago

2002 vintage. Great for what Lopez de Heredia is going for stylistically, but still more oxidative than I like my Rioja. Impressively fresh acid for the age, though, and perfect middle ground solution for all foods we had (roasted char, steak, brick chicken, duck). — 10 years ago
