Regional Series Mount Barker Shiraz 2009

Aside from Willowbridge and Cape Mentelle I have never really explored Western Australian Shiraz. I had no idea Mount Barker was cool climate and was pleasantly surprised to find this wine to be medium bodied. It's quite rich and complex but also elegant to the point that it vaguely reminds you of old world Shiraz from the Northern Rhone. Black pepper and red berry on the nose with a succulent plum flavour on the palette. Tremendous savoury character with soft, fine tannin profile. Solid drop. — 11 years ago

If you like that area try Plantagenet Shiraz at some stage.

This 2004 is quite impressive as this wine is very reminiscent of Northern Rhone Cote Rotie. — 13 years ago
