Domaine Serene

Clos du Soleil Dijon Clone Chardonnay 2008

I try to not compare new world to Burgundy, but this really reminds me of Puligny. Layered & rich, but plenty of acidic structure. — 10 years ago

@David A Lentine - it really was. Our second Christmas dinner in two nights. Last night beef, tonight fish. I snuck a small glass away to enjoy after we cleaned up & it was kicking. @Peter Hladun -I'm strange w/ them. I like their Chardonnay more than their PN, but they are a very good producer all around.

@Anthony Lombardi very close to DS is a small PN producer called White Rose, I highly recommend if you haven't tried already

@Peter Hladun - Thank you for mentioning White Rose! I do know & like them, but haven't had their stuff in a few years. This is a good reminder. So many great producers in Oregon.

Domaine Tortochot

Les Champeaux Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2009

Lovely wine. More nuance and layers than in the two Oregon pintos with which it was tasted (serene evanstad and berg storm). Nice smoky earthiness with darker fruit. Nice length and linger. Exc with food — 12 years ago

Vinedos Lacalle y Laorden

Viña El Pison Rioja Tempranillo 1999

Incredible dark fruit, minerals, and a menthol accent, and still youthful with vibrant acidity and ample velvet tannin come together in a stunning blend of grace and power that begs for serene contemplation. — 10 years ago

Mathilde et Yves Gangloff

La Serene Noire Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2009

Slight floral quality to the edgy sweetness and gorgeous black fruit. I suspect some co-fermentation here (Viognier). Lovely, lively, and lithe on the palate. Plenty of acids here, so this will pair with nearly any meats. Just to reiterate, this is not your typical Paso syrah (no offense), but an elegant rendition of the grape. — 11 years ago

Killer wine, exceeding expectations. Oak not as prevalent as in the serene noir cuvee. The full package. — 12 years ago
