Blackberry, floral, black cherry, so deep and almost Syrah like nose. Syrah/Pinot hybrid. Elegant, sappy and pure. Classic Girard balance. Smooth even though I hate this word. So fresh with ripe tannins but provide terrific structure and depth. — 9 months ago

Loved this wine! So complex. Brioche, nutty, high acidity. — 3 years ago

Bacchanal, light fruity — 6 years ago
Nice flinty reductive properties that envelops into a rich minerality. Not lacking in fruit with some cantaloupe and lemon rind. Overall a great expression of Côte d'Or as a white wine with the complexity and familiar body of a red. — 7 years ago
Very reductive — 8 years ago
Stinky, reductive, needs lots of air & time to breath. Funky cab franc which many won't like. — 9 years ago

Low yields in Northern Rhône 2013, but the quality of the fruit is prevalent here. Structured and well-integrated fine grained tannins at the five year mark. The nose explodes out of the glass with finesse and doused complexities. Definitive Syrah nuances of black raspberries, black plums, black olives, fresh cut violets, cracked black pepper, Indian spices, grilled and smoked meats, and stone dust. Light weight but packs a continuous release of flavors. Nose and palate changes from fruit to floral to spicy to meaty. As you move to different areas and rooms the wine changes. The more air it gets, the more meat starts hanging out. Complex indeed for a $20 bottle. Great showing. — 6 years ago
Clean, peppery, fresh — 7 years ago
Fresh, slightly green (stems?), primary. Warm fermentation? Quite lean on the palate. A bit more fruit would help. Very clear but a bit lacking in beauty or lushness. — 8 years ago
Very oaky and fruity, body. — 9 years ago
My favorite Pernand 1er Cru. Classic nose of dark cherry fruit, brambly berry fruit, wild mint, spearmint, desiccated leaves, sous bois and citrus rind. Very complex and pure. So Fichots. Grippy, gritty, silky and dense with dark cherry fruit and forest floor inner mouth aromas and silky but substantial tannins. Needs air. Wonderful. As this airs the tannins smooth out and the energy increases as does the length.

Although it might be past its prime this Grenache has aged wonderfully. Aromas of dried strawberries with lavender honey and just a titch of dried leaves lead into a more juicy pallate reminiscent of raspberry sauce. Seemed a fitting pairing for viewing the Downton Abbey finale. ($16) [4/26/17] — 7 years ago
