Magnum 1997 Joseph Phelps Insignia. Drank at Archetype lunch w B&K K, J&L B, and M&R H. Second of the red lineup, following a magnum of 1975 Heitz. Much bigger and its youth showed. Lovely wine that we all really enjoyed. — 10 years ago

Eucalyptus bomb. Like Heitz Martha’s Vineyard, early Turnbull wines were known for the character imparted by neighboring eucalyptus groves. I’ve never come across a wine where it was as apparent as with this one. Perhaps with age the eucalyptus sticks around as the fruit fades. Enjoyable experience all the same. — 8 years ago

Ruby red with pink hue. Fresh muddled strawberry and raspberry with stem attached to it. Hint of bubble gum, mint and tarragon on the nose. Med plus to high acidity, mineral, dry with med to med plus tannin. A food rose to enjoy with Mexican food such as chicken and beef tacos. — 8 years ago
