From magnum. Had it next to the stylistically similar Fourrier Gevrey VV, but this was the better wine for me - it had a little more depth and texture. Started of similarly reductive, but quickly opened up to scents of roses, intense red cherry, and smoky insence. The palate's velvety, mix of red and dark fruits, rich but offers lots of freshness with its crisp acidity. Minerality plays second fiddle at the moment, but is evident in the long spicy finish. I bet this was how it looked like when it was first bottled, so time can only make it better. 1er level for sure!
NB: From WH - This plot is located on the southern side of Griotte-Chambertin alongside the Claude Dugat plot and below the Duroché plot of Griottes-Chambertin. It is quite strange that this vineyard has been classified as village as it’s located so close to the Grand Crus. — 5 years ago
#5 of my tasting pack is from one of my favorite producers in entire Burgundy-Sylvain Cathiard. Light ruby in color, delightful abundance of red fruit on the nose with licorice, milk chocolate and after some aeration earthy note-very typical of SC. However palate is not quite consistent with nose on this one. On the palate it is lighter body than the Echezeaux from Fourrier, so is its depth. Fruits are fading suggests it's already at peak. Further aging will not benefit this wine much. Though it's probably the most affordable from SC, I'm still hoping for something better than this. — 7 years ago
Nice, surprisingly so for an '04. Powerful. Silky. Deep red fruit. — 8 years ago
One of the best pinot I've had from Down Under so far | William Downie spent some time in Burgundy, having worked at Domaine Fourrier in Gevrey Chambertin and Hubert Lignier in Morey St Denis. In 2003 he started his eponymous label in Victoria | 2012 William Downie Gippsland — 9 years ago
Looks like Syrah, drinks like Pinot Noir. — 10 years ago
Beautiful burgundy , perfect time to enjoy it . — 3 years ago
Some people say this is supposedly Rousseau lite. I think it's more Fourrier like, but without the nutmeg spice. — 5 years ago

Great bottle of pinot noir. — 3 years ago
Metallic, sweet spices, dried cranberry and strawberries, sweet and cool. Has plenty depth and sappiness for the plot and vintage. Very Duroche/Fourrier like. — 5 years ago
Alive with fruit and crushed rocks. Tingling minerality. Crystalline. Reminds me a little of Fourrier — 6 years ago

Enormous pleasure in this bottle. Killer lunch wine with Boudin Blanc. — 7 years ago
Amazing Burgundy from the ever-consistent Domaine Fourrier. Lovely deep red in color. The nose has dark red fruits, floral notes, cedar and damp earth. On the palate I get cherry, raspberry, some smoke and forest notes. Drinking great now after a proper decanting with years ahead of it. — 7 years ago
10 у.о. vintage brut for 20€?! Yes, it's possible and that brut is awesome — 8 years ago
A little reductive at first opened up with time to reveal incredible purity and elegance . Red and blue fruits , earth , bakers spice , Violets , herbs. In the mouth there is plenty of vibrancy , with some dusty tannins and buffering acidity . If Jean Maire Fourrier was making California Pinot Noir it would taste like this: — 9 years ago
Alizarin in color with many bubbles--both fine and large ones. Intensely yeasty and toasty on the nose. The effervescence is intense, almost piquant. Bright acidity steals the show and sets up the palate for notes of blueberry, cranberry and a touch of cocoa that quickly transitions, whiskey-like, to a caramel and vanilla dotted finish. The 100% P noir makes this a really unique and bold bubbly rose. Stellar! — 10 years ago

Red fruit. Damp earth. A touch carbonic. First Duroche. Style reminds me of Fourrier. — 3 years ago
