San Fereolo

Valdibà Dolcetto di Dogliani 2010

Cinnamon -plum with sweet smoke, black cherry smelling very ripe! Medium mouth, underripe black cherry with a gritty earth taste minus any texture. Pointed finish with a dusty point like a twisted cigarette full of cigar tobacco. Graphite. #Dolcetto #piedmontwines #Italianjuice — 9 years ago

Dolcetto di Dogliani 2019

I tried this twice, once early in 2022 and now-August 2023. Very nice well structured dolcetto that is a little bigger than what I look for in the type of wine, but now quite elegant and opening beautifully. Good value. — 2 years ago

Santo Stefano di Perno Dolcetto d'Alba 2015

It's a 9.5 kind of night. Oh my Dorthy, how I wish we were eating pizza with this. The pasta with fava beans, mushrooms, and prosciutto did us well though. Have to get another bottle of this for future use. — 7 years ago

Palmina

Santa Barbara County Dolcetto

I love all of the wines Palmina make. This one is such a lazy salty lover. Your hobo love with tar on his feet but a luscious long con on the tongue. Has he been licking a strawberry sucker then sipping Pellegrino? Enjoy a glass of him while the affair lasts, up until the last balmy, foggy warm night in Santa Barbara. — 8 years ago

Vignavillej Dolcetto d'Alba 2016

On the brutish side, & decant absolutely mandatory. A serious, or as serious as a dolcetto can be, with harder edged black fruits, & fine if not puckering tannins. Rosenthal book — 5 years ago

Dolcetto di Dogliani 2009

Perhaps the best Dolcetto I’ve ever had, and dirt cheap! Serious structure, tannin and acid. These are built to last like their big “B” brothers in Piemonte. And built for food... — 6 years ago

Caduceus Cellars

Merkin Vineyards Shinola New Mexico Red Blend 2013

Right after opening, it seems like an alcohol bomb on the nose. Not to fail. Just needs 10 minutes and it's open to big red fruit, slight oak, tart cherry, and great acid. They're killing it out there. — 7 years ago

Cavallotto

Vigna Scot Dolcetto d'Alba 2012

Smooth, drinkable - would pair well with anything. Had with a wonderful Italian meal.

Ruby wine club notes: The Cavallotto family claims sole ownership of the beautiful Bricco Boschis cru in the Castiglione Falletto district (also home to Azelia), where they have been growing Nebbiolo since 1929 and bottling their own wine since 1948. These richly structured wines place emphasis on elegance and longevity, attributable to excellent vineyards in the Bricco Boschis and Vignolo crus and traditional long maturation periods in large Slovenian-oak casks. After meeting and tasting with Winemaker and owner Alfio Cavallotto, I was incredibly impressed with his wines and thought his Dolcetto was one of the best I had tasted all year. This wine offers the crunchy red fruits for which Dolcetto is known for, with an element of licorice, and sandalwood. This Impressive effort will pair with just about anything, but it is highly fashionable with pasta and grilled meats.
