v2012. I tried this wine/vintage in 2013 and loved it. Now it requires more time to open up, definitely decant. But, the reward is special: aromas of cola, tarragon, bouillon, and earth. Dried cherries, more earth, and an everlasting gobbstopper finish. Derby worthy. — 10 years ago

This is a burly Mendozan to be sure! Big chocolate out of the gates! Torque, muscle, saddle leather, blackberry, dust. This is the derby! Each December the Hipódromo hosts the Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini, the most important horse race in Argentina, and this year my money is on this dark horse. All 17$ of it. Crowd pleasing elements aside, there is a primal, and arcane element here despite its specious approachability. Deliciously deceptive. Plenty of acidity and nice earth notes. — 10 years ago
