Domaine Jean-Louis Chave

Hermitage Syrah 2001

2001 vintage. Quite fresh and youthful despite the age. Honey and nuts, apricots and cream. On the palate, medium plus acidity and medium alcohol, medium body. Great depth to this wine. Still has a good decade ahead of it. No oxidation whatsoever on this bottle. A truly great example of hermitage Blanc. — 11 years ago

Classic, elegant St Julien showing the power and depth of this great vintage. Still showing some youth, but clearly a wonderfully mature wine. — 12 years ago

9.0

Starts out lemon fruit and paraffin, moves to mango/guava as it warms up. Slightly sweet - oak/RS? Nice depth and persistent acid. Not a lot of perceptible oak except on the initial pour. — 14 years ago
