Amazing focus and depth. Mineral, Pear, Golden Apple. Still quite primary and will last for many years to come. — 9 years ago
Tight; closed; a bit rough. Short sweet finish. More depth than 94 Mouton — 10 years ago
2001 vintage. Quite fresh and youthful despite the age. Honey and nuts, apricots and cream. On the palate, medium plus acidity and medium alcohol, medium body. Great depth to this wine. Still has a good decade ahead of it. No oxidation whatsoever on this bottle. A truly great example of hermitage Blanc. — 10 years ago
Classic and classy! Outstanding depth and concentration, lovely! Superb QPR. — 11 years ago
fantastic cote rotie, great depth of flavor. tastes almost wild — 11 years ago
I liked this very much. Two hour decant. Nice mellow depth. — 12 years ago
Wine ha a deep purpose color, a kiss of blackberry and cassis fruit, a full-bodied mouthfeel with ripe tannin and a long finish. Fantastic staying power and depth. This wine is lush, velvety, intense and pure. A must have! — 6 years ago
This was a fantastic bottle. While big in breadth and depth of flavor, it carries it in an elegant manor. Dark fruits, glorious acidity, meats give way to saline, leather, charcoal and a host of flavors so subtle and numerous it would be a disservice to list. The finish sails on and cleanly disappears while you contemplate the emotions it leaves in its wake. — 7 years ago
A consistently fine Pinot every year. Nice depth as always. — 8 years ago
Impressive depth and complexity - starting to show secondary flavors — 10 years ago
2000. Huge wow here. No-doubter right off the bat. Next to the 2005 Batard, and I liked this better. Big thwack of sulfur and gunpowder on the nose to go along with lemony fruit and a chicken broth type of savoriness. Richly fruited but crunchy and crystalline on the palate. This keeps reminding me of those sticky lemon drop candies with the sugar crytal coating, sweet succulent concentrated fruit but with a crunch to it. Plenty of bass tones and depth though and it just doesn't quit. This is the vintage the grapes were so perfect they printed a cross-section of one on the back label and it looked like a Mandelbrot fractal. It still manages to depict the wine pretty well. — 10 years ago
Age has done this well. Underrated vintage of mouton. The nose is big and signature mouton with some glycerine and tar, some barnyard funk, and some baked berries. Palate is super vibrant yet smooth and sings of dark berries, cherries, Christmas spice cake, and a touch of herbs. Finish is polished yet lingers. Really great and a surprise for an underrated year. Only knock is it lacks a bit of depth vs some of the real top vintages but still what a showing — 7 years ago
gorgeous 1999 vintage — brambly and so elegant with incredible depth — 8 years ago
My favorite birth year wines are usually Burgundy or Bordeaux's since the hold up so well over time. Unfortunately, the 1965 growing season is known for Cold weather, Rain an Rot!!!! The 1965 vintage is Atrocious!! Michel Broadband called the 65 Bordeaux wine "Mean, Acidic and Short". Robert Parker was even tougher on the vintage!! Everyone that I spoke to and the research that I did pointed me to this Beauty!! 1965 Vega Sicilia Unico. I opened this last night for my wife's birthday. This bottle was in pristine condition with an original price tag of $4.80 on it!! Too funny!! I love finding beauties like this. I wasn't sure what to expect after reading so much in regards to the terrible growing year. This had a gorgeous earthy dried fruit which lightly caressed our palate. It wasn't the typical huge kid on the block with depth, character and conviction that we've enjoyed previously from other vintages. It was actually really cool to enjoy age, grace and playful Beauty. The finish.was relatively short but there it was still very good and somewhat robust. I just wish it lingered a little longer but oh well., it simply made us pick up the glass that much faster!! The wine was Very, very good. The family and friends that we enjoyed it with are awesome!!
The Love that I have for my wife on her birthday and every other day of the year is Priceless!!!

1 hour plus decant. Dark red color. Nose contains graphite, black cherry, and some medicinal elements. Wine has more oak than expected but nice cherry fruit. Awesome texture and great depth. Medium plus finish. Not as good as the ‘12 I recently had, but still one of my favorite producers! — 6 years ago
