Dead Fred Vineyard! — 6 years ago
Nice full soft body. Fruits are round ruby creamy and lush. There's nearly no bite in this 13. Tannins are full but round and easy on the palate. Blackberries, black plum, dark cherries, blueberries, oak is done just right, rich black moist soil, minerals are very relaxed. Acidity is dead on and finish is long and beautiful. — 8 years ago
2002. Yummy. Lives up to its name. — 8 years ago
The 2012 is Zin-like! Fruit & spice and everything nice. Fruit up front, with a lingering peppery finish. This red blend remains a great daily driver. Be careful, the 14.5% will 'steal your face' if you don't check yourself! — 9 years ago
Soft earth, super drinkable. — 9 years ago
Best of the lot so far 15 min in 92 pts might be better in 30 or dead — 10 years ago
Very fruit forward and you can tell it's a young wine. With that said it is well balanced and an excellent wine to drink now or law it down for several years. — 11 years ago
Highly recommended. Well balanced with a lingering smooth finish. — 11 years ago
Still opening...
Red to orange to yellow to clear lip. Unfined with sediment mixed in (clearly I disturbed her). Some initial strawberry on the nose, then anise, and mild petroleum. Strong green olives on the palate, any taster would immediately identify this note. Going to hold for a bit before pronouncing judgement...
1 hour in.... Olives have bent towards muddled mushrooms. Better...
So I certainly respect this wine, but there really isn't a lot to hang my hat on. The fruit is pretty much dead. The olives wouldn't relent overall. It remains savory. So this could possibly pair with a soft mild cheese (brie), or on the other side of dinner with something not too sweet (cheesecake), but I'm stretching. I guess , in
my opinion I would surmise that it is past peak.

Wow another stunner. Can't get much better than this. Plums and black fruits with a touch of Eucalyptus, rich and flavorful. CB 93+. — 10 years ago

Dr Latour is wrapping up 2017 in proper fashion. 59. Dark core with only a hint of bricking. These are almost indestructible when kept properly. Drank like a younger wine. 3hrs open and was very showy and sweet. “Sexy” as some might call it is dead on. Blackberry kirsch, some cedar and a little black olive all wrapped in this velvet almost liqueur like package. Happy New Year to all my WNH/Delectable friends and family. Love JL. — 6 years ago
I like my Coudert with age. This is glorious on the nose. Underbrush, dead leaves, oolong tea, cherry fruit, mint and an over all damson vibe. Palate is elegant and mineral with nice juicy fruit but there is some drying tannin that is concerning upon opening but seems it could knit well together with air. We will see. After 15 minutes this is glorious. The tannins are getting sweeter and while still firm the fruit is getting there and it is becoming balanced but also showing nice aged aromas and on the palate but also showing a youthful exuberance. I like aging wines from "difficult" vintages. Sometimes you can age the the "difficult" aspects into something "interesting." This wine was so so in its youth. — 7 years ago

The wine that gets better every vintage. Confections abound when popped and poured and then it settles into its floral/nutty/honey aromas beautifully. All of this framed by a slab of limestone. Also a verbena/green tea aroma adds complexity. Unbelievable texture. So silky and soft yet buffered by a taut spine of acidity that is so well integrated it only reveals itself on the finish. Great concentration Long finish with honey, tangerines and minerals. What finesse and sophistication here. Drop dead. — 8 years ago
2012 vintage - very deep, dark Cab. Brambly dark fruit aromas. Palate is huge, yet not over the top. Dark berries, stewed plums, licorice and tobacco notes. Very good. — 9 years ago
Starts off weird and almost effervescent...ends in dark over ripe cherries and lushness that is awesome. — 9 years ago
Needed some Barolo in my life!!! This little Rock and Roll Nurse felt like a much needed transfusion. Less Orange-hued than most. Highly affordable. Just a baby, like we Vampires like 'em! Happy to sink my fangs in this one. Chalky Cherries with chunks of plum. Rose snippets. Orange bitters diluted in Armagnac. This has all the mixological possibilities of a great cocktail, only it is propped on a cloud of acidity that screams like a juvenile Jove for a plate of fine food before blasting your mouth with a a lightning bolt of chewy round tannins, then descending like a shower of golden daffodils to sex you up! Ahh Spring!

The 2016 Long Shadows 'Saggi' is a thrilling blend of Sangiovese (Boushey and Candy Mountain Vineyards) with 29% Cabernet Sauvignon (Weinbau Vineyard) and the remainder Syrah (Den Hoed Dutchman and Bacchus Vineyards). The nose is drop-dead gorgeous with bacon fat, black olive tapenade, mocha and fennel. The stunning range of aromas bring you back to the glass for more. Revealing a silky texture and a wonderfully ripe mouthfeel, this slowly unveils smoked meat, black tea, milk chocolate covered cherry and roasted fig flavors. Decadent, layered and downright delicious, this beautiful wine will enjoy an exceedingly long life in the cellar. Drink 20-9-2033- 95 — 5 years ago
