Our second wine from urban winery Broc Cellars in Berkeley. Counoise is an obscure blending grape from the Southern Rhone. A bit of a cypher showing ripe and underripe fruit like tart cranberry and sweet cherry. Sweet soil character with a hint of ancho chile and vanilla. — 9 years ago

I love anything Christian Tietje makes at Cypher. This is s big Rhone blend, starts with 36% Zinfandel, 36% Mourvèdre and 28% Syrah. Year-to-year it evolves and changes with each harvest, overall it's a very consistent and pleasing wine. It's big so think BBQ, Steak, seasoned pork chops! — 9 years ago
