CV tasting Bordeaux 11/29/16. Nose of more mature leaves and earthy mushroom notes and hints of wood. Palate has soft tannins and some wood notes and finish is complex with tannic notes. — 8 years ago
CV tasting Bordeaux 11/29/16. Nose of mature flowers and earth in '03 while '05 had a woody and minty and dusty notes. Palate balanced with '03 with softer body and more tannins in the 2005 and better structure and firm body. Carries through to finish. Similar tasting with 05 a point less. 60/40 Merlot/Cab franc. — 8 years ago
9/23/16 CV vertical. 2001: bricked color and a bit oxidized, previously CVed a factor? Nose with sherry. Need to drink up. 8.7. Definitely going downhill. 2003: good nose with earthy tones and receding fruits. Balanced palate and floral finish. 8.9. 2005: still a bit closed off but drinking well. Color most ruby red than others. 9.0. 2006: similar nose as 2003 of receding fruits and earth. Body has more structure and more acidic. Medium finish. 8.9. 2008: more fruit on nose with more floral tones. Very fragrant. Good structure and balance on palate again with more acidity that carries through to medium finish. 8.9. 2009: darker ruby color like the 2005 and hints of barnyard and mintiness mixed with red fruits in the complex nose. Most distinctive of the series. Body again structured and acidic. Medium finish. 8.9. So, need to drink up most of these except for 05 and 09. Opened 2001 and 2003 in Sept. And both were excellent and surprise was 2001 didn't taste at all oxidized. Interesting. — 9 years ago

Cved 5/24/17. Acidic mineral white fruit notes on nose that took time to open up. Light golden color and medium body with stones and minerals palate carrying through to long finish. A high strung profile with electric tension in a good way. Opened 1/28/20 and tasting excellent as noted before. CV sure worked well. Great food wine. — 8 years ago
CV tasting Bordeaux 11/29/16. Nose of Forest leaves that's mature and hints of dark flowers notes. Palate still had tannins and long finish. Opened 7/26/17. Drinking well. Dark berries under the forest notes and good balance on palate with a note of wildness. Would give it a bump up to 8.9 from 8.8 — 8 years ago
CV tasting Crozes Hermitage 10/6/16. Very savory and meaty nose with hints of mints and earthiness and beacon. Balanced and acidic and minerals on palate with firm structure. Long complex finish. First time drinking aged CV...would have guessed this was a vosne romanee wine..sexy lots if Asian spice — 10 years ago
Double decanted & served with dinner . Explosive nose showing black currant & mocha powder. Rich, deep palate with waves of black fruit & textured oaky spice. Plenty of youthful tannins which resolve with each bite of steak & as the wine breathes. Despite the showy fruit & tannins, this has a freshness & drinkability which is fantastic.
This has a healthy dose of Merlot blended in & a dollop of PV. From an excellent mix of top vineyards around the CV including one of Abeja's estate sources. Excellent vintage after vintage. — 11 years ago

CV tasting Bordeaux 11/29/16. Nose of dark flowers and fruits and black berries and violets. Palate still shows tannins and with acidic balance and finish carries through. All the 2005s can wait a few more years. 90% Merlot rest Cab and Cab franc. Opened 9/24/18. Drinking really well. Almost two years since CV. No degradation. Raising score by 1. — 8 years ago
CV tasting Crozes Hermitage 10/6/16. Nose more hints of oak but with that savory and meaty profile that's a bit more muted. Firm and textured body and balanced with tannin still prominent. Long complex finish. Opened bottle 10/9/16 with Grafs in Maine and it was delicious. Nose was bit more prominent than first tasting and finish was great. Yum. Add .1 to score. — 9 years ago
As a burg should be. Floral nose nevertheless balanced by hints of minerals and stones, lemon scents. Lean body with good structure. Medium finish with acid lingering. CVed. With st innocent. 9/2/16. Will try again later. Second tasting CV: 9/28/16. Nose a bit more oxidized (cv?) Palate still balanced with acids and minerals and fruit and with long complex finish. Still 9.0. Compared to 3 others. 10/3/16 opened. Still great, no sign of seepage despite a bit of liquid on the cap. Cork very tight and difficult to extract. So 2x CV was OK. Excellent wine. Yum. Finish shows off mineralality and complexity though it did fade pretty quickly. — 9 years ago

CVed 9/3/17 3 Pinot comp. Surprising fresh with deep ruby color. Nose of Forest and hay and dark fruits. Dense and almost chewy body compared to Burg yet very balanced and long complex finish. Very nice. Better than all recent new world Pinot tasted. Opened for Maria wine dinner 5/5/18. Too bad. Nose of sherry oxidation and palate also showed notes of over ripeness. Though easily blended in with food, this unfortunately showed the effect of CV with well-used needle and old cork, and cork broke apart during opening. — 8 years ago
