Nice blend (48 CS, 41 Mer, 11 CF). Opened it a little cold but it got much better as it warmed up. This wine has really mellowed out. The fruit still comes through and the pepper from the Cab has softened. This is a very nice wine. — 7 years ago
Bottle from CS welcome basket, had at home 10/14/17 and thought it was 'a very nice red' — 8 years ago
58% CS, 33% M, 6% PV, 3% CF
Slightly bricked garnet red, compact rim, more red than purple.
Pretty bouquet - red cherry, dried herbal aromas, leather, tobacco, mineral.
The palate is harmonious. Integrated tannin, med plus acidity, dry, medium bodied. Showing a lot of red fruit character, animalistic, floral. Very classic Margaux-esque character.
This wine is at the perfect drinking spot. No need at all to wait. After a solid month of full bodied, extracted Napa Cab, this is a welcome reprieve! 90. — 8 years ago
Excellent Washington CS for the money. — 8 years ago
Dense and weighty especially on the mid-palate. Lots of plush concentration. Sexy. Dark and plummy with great mineral and savory notes. 79% merlot, 19%CS, 5%PV. — 9 years ago
A lovely robust second wine that needs more time to mature, this blend of 50% CS 50% Merlot has a deep garnet color , very expressive aromas of black current, cedar wood, black cherries, cigar box, tea leaves and plums, an excellent melange of earthiness and fruit, full body with firm dry tannins and great acidity, this wine is still young and needs more time to mellow and show his well masked smoothness, long dry delicious finish, after 8 hours starts to open up and deliver more complexity. My score 89, drink 2016-2022, next bottle in 2017 ;-) — 9 years ago
2012 Rutherford - nice example of a great SB vineyard in the heart of CS territory. Rangpur lime, vanillin , kiss of herb - fresh & dried. Nice length no screech or burn. — 11 years ago
Lovely red - not too dry - easy to drink. Great in the bourguignon. — 11 years ago

Always surprised how delicate and poised this CS is. It is a fantastic drink subtle and poised. — 7 years ago
Tasted at Chateau

Deep almost inky with slight sign of development on the rim, some bricking but still youthful.
Classic Bordeaux bouquet of savory infused black fruit. Complex nose of enticing barnyard funk, seabreeze, new leather, cooking spice.
On the palate, still very structured. Mouth stainingly full tannin, med body, dry. Cassis, blackberry, dark cherry commingling with mature signs of development. Sage, thyme, cattle range, forest floor, mushroom, smoky, and nutty new oak.
Impressively classic. Will need at least 10 years more to not be accused of committing infanticide. 90++ — 8 years ago

A very enjoyable blend of Freisa, CS, & merlot. Regretting that I only bought 2. — 9 years ago
1996, This 1996 blend of 61% CS and 39% merlot, showed beautifully and justifying the 19 years of cellaring.
A truly deep rich and elegant wine. Lavish red appealing color, lovely nose, leather, black cherries, black current, wet soil, mineral, medium to full body, with soft round tannins, smooth, deep, complex, lovely acidity to balance, and a delicious finish, with hint of sweetness. A truly lovely wine. My score 91, drink to 2019. — 10 years ago

Novelty Hill borrows from the ancient Latin phrase In Novale Novello, “in virgin ground I plant young vines,” for its name. I didn’t realize that there aren’t vines on the actual Novelty Hill in Washington (located about 5 miles east of Redmond). Oh well, so much for my Hill vs Hill face-off with Pritchard Hill’s Bryant Family. This 2014 Novelty Hill Cabernet Sauvignon talks some serious smack, and even brings a serious punch, but that would have been Go-Karts vs Formula One. That said, this is one hell of a Go-Kart. In the low $20s, my first comparison is to Charles Smith’s Substance Cs, and this blows the doors off that wine, and more than justifies its slightly higher price-point. Jumps out of the glass with black cherry, cassis, mocha, licorice, and a heavily spiced cranberry potpourri, while still managing to weave in a savory undertone that emphasizes the noticeable balance. Washington offers extraordinary value across the board, but this is a value even by Washington standards. 92+ — 7 years ago

Bricked garnet, widened rim, but still a lot of youthful sign left.
Superb bouquet of classic mature Bordeaux claret. Complex expression of savory infused cassis, blueberry, dark cherry framed by notes of seabreeze, antique leather, violet, sage, and thyme.
Completely integrated. Smooth and silky mouthfeel. With just a touch of new oak still, this wine is really a result of perfect evolution. Balanced midpalate and finish very long on that enticing savory black fruit note.
Stored in Chateau's cellar for 21 years, removed, uncorked on site. Drank at a mille-pates party at the chateau prior to the marathon. 93. — 8 years ago
Magnum 1991 Joseph Phelps Insignia CS. Dinner at T w neighbors. Drank alongside the '90 Latour out of magnum. We didn't decant this as long as the Latour and out of the gate, this wine was a little tight. However, by the end of dinner, this was the clear winner. Just held up and got better as the night progressed. — 8 years ago
Pretty and lovely CS that really speaks old world in style. A great reminder of how 2011 in the right hands can be so expressive and perfumed. Nose is brambly, savory, minty, and an earthy backdrop gives a nice layer. Palate is a balance of those brambly fruits, leather, brown spices, menthol, juniper, dusty tannins. There almost seems to be a little VA hint that offers a lift to the wine. Very refreshing to taste Napa Cabs with this much acid and freshness. — 9 years ago
Bright fruits, rich in secondaries, white pepper, tobacco, cigar ash, smoke. Lovey acid profile and a joy to taste. 74% CS, 26% CF — 9 years ago
Very well done rich and delicious CS from California, the wine needs a bit more time, yet if you let it breath you can also enjoy it today. Deep dark red in color, lovely nose, sweet cedar, licorice, black current, a touch of herbs and coffee, full rich round body with firm tannins almost chewy, fantastic acidity and a long dry finish. My first experience with this winery, certainly not my last. My score 90, drink to 2022 — 9 years ago
